That article is quite confusing, (probably because I'm tired and my monitor is spazzing up) will this spin-off have any ties to the original show? E.g. cameos, etc.
House spin-off in the pipeline
The bigwigs at US network Fox are reportedly planning a spin-off of the hit medical series House... but it's not what you'd think.
TV Guide columnist Michael Ausiello reveals that House's producers are "quietly developing" a spin-off, with plans to introduce a new male character into several instalments of the drama's fifth season. "Assuming the actor they find really pops in the role," writes Ausiello, "he may be spun off into his own show."
But there's a catch - the new male character isn't a doctor who'll work alongside the medics at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, but a private investigator!
The idea may never come to fruition but House wouldn't be the first hit series to go down the PI-spin-off route. In the mid-'90s David Hasselhoff Baywatch character Mitch Buchanan turned private dick in the spin-off Baywatch Nights.
House creator David Shore recently revealed that Robert Chase, the doctor played by Australian actor Jesse Spencer, will feature less and less in the series to make way for new characters. However, Spencer remains optimistic about the cast shake-up.
"I've heard a rumour [the writers] are going to use [Chase] a bit more in season five," he said in an interview with Ausiello. "I don't really think they know... we're doing episode one of season five right now, so we'll see what pans out."

I agree, I think that Chase would be in the spin off if it works out that way. Sounds like it might be interesting, but it is just going to have to depend on what this character does while he is on House...
