Hell no! Season 4 has been the best season so far in my books! I haven't seen the post-strike episodes, because I live in a country that is way behind American airings, but I absolutely LOVED the firstpart of the season.
So, no. I don't think it has lost anything. I think it has gained a lot. But thats just my opinion. I don't know what other people think.
it's probably because of all the changes. but i feel like it's not the same as before. i feel that the medical stuff has been put on the back burner for a while.
It's not less good, it's just... different! And, thanks to House, we know how some of us are reluctant to the idea of change!
I loved season 3 (I'm one of those who really enjoyed the Tritter arc!) but I was glad that the show was able to shake up its formula a bit and shift the focus away from House's addiction and pain problems to explore other themes. And that change in content logically brought on a change in form.
True, some of it seemed a bit over the top (the stretch that was the Survivor arc for example, and, to me, the whole episode "Whatever It Takes") but I think the show has mostly gained in depth and creativity since the beginning of season 4 - I now count "Ugly" and "Frozen" amongst my favourite episodes!
I agree with Baimoussant its different. Which, in my opinion, the show desperatly needed. House seemed to be getting in a bit of a rut, following a similar episode pattern of patient is sick, mean doctor with a pain management problem finds things out that proves the person different from what was assumed, patient has about 3 near death experiences and has organs fail at some point, then is miraculously saved at the last moment or dies. With the whole 'survivor' arc it shook things up a bit and allowed House to remain interesting. I have throughouly enjoyed this entire season!
