That's an easy one. Anyone who has read the book before they've seen the film is destined to love the book and hate the film, it works for me and in the interest of standing up for the book. What makes the book great is the charectors weren't perfect, Howl really was a coward and he was welsh and Sophie was selfish and outspoken and they both despised each other which made the subtle love element a lot funnier, i love the book.
Ah! 've worked out how i can express my reasons for loving the book.
When Howl in the film gets his heart back he says 'What's this weight in my chest?' and Sophie sickeningly sweetly says 'A heart is a heavy burden' i flinched.
When Howl (or Howell) gets his heart back in the book he says 'Hell's teeth! I've got a hangover' (in a welsh accent obviously) and Sophie sighs and says something i can't quite remmember and can't check because someone has my tattered over-read copy of the book. I laughed.
I like that she says a heart is a heaven burden because it is! He'd be a selfish, heartless jerk face and suddenly he has a heart. He then notices how beautiful Sophie's hair is and compliments her. How cute is that?!
They totally interpreted it wrong!!!it meant something else if u watched the Japanese version. When he asks what's this weight on my chest sophie says something else which I can't remember.
I like them both. There were some things in the movie I didn't like and also alot of things they changed, some for the better. I just wish I read the book before I saw the movie. I also wish they turned the sequels to the book into movies too.
But I loved one of the titles of the chapters!!
"In which Sophie expresses her feelings with Weed Killer"!!!

You see my point- hopefully.
