Impromptu Dinner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You heading home?" House asked Cuddy as he stood in front her desk.
Cuddy sat at her chair. She had a lot of paperwork in front of her yet to be done.
"I should do this paperwork before I go. Why?"
"I was gonna get some dinner at Thai One On..."
Cuddy rubbed her tired eyes. In the past, she would have asked him what he was up to. She would have pushed him to admit he was in fact asking her out. But over the last four months of this infuriating cat and mouse game between them, she had learned that being direct with him in terms of his feelings was always a dicey matter. She decided to act natural.
"I am hungry." She said with a smile.
House held his cane a little tighter.
"I'll meet you in the lobby in ten minutes." He said.
Cuddy nodded in return and watched him limp out of her office.
His heart was stolen 20 years ago
From the blue eyed angel
By the brown eyed devil
He lost the devil and was left with the memories of both heaven and hell
He could speak to the angel, dare he tell?
For he was still in love with her
Her big blue eyes
Her smile that lights up his world
But no, he is still miserable
20 years have passed
Since these lovers laughed
They’ve seen eachother fall
And she’s created a wall
Every man will fail
Except for one male
His first name she dares to speak
For she fears she might be forced to love again
She could try…no
He will disappoint her, she will disappoint him
Together they feel for eachother
In a way that is none other
They get so close then so far away
They mustn’t keep their love at bay
They must admit their feelings
And become better human beings
Cuddy could see him through her window. He gets off his bike and starts toward her home, but then turns around back to his bike. He had repeated this routine three times already.
"Are you ever going to make it to the door?" She yells from her now open window.
House turns at her voice and sees her staring from the side window.
"How long have you been..."
"About ten minutes." She replies with a smile.
House runs a hand through his hair. He walks to her gate and leans his cane against it.
"Enjoy the show?"
"It has been quite amusing." She says with a chuckle.
House rolls his eyes.
"It's not funny to laugh at a poor cripple."
"When you're the cripple it is."
"It's almost one in the morning what are you even doing up?" He asks.
"Me? What are you even doing here?" She asks with a hand on her hip.
"Keep the noise down!" Cuddy's next door neighbor suddenly yells from her own window.
"Sorry, Mrs. Porter." Cuddy yells back nervously.
