First of all, I'd like to say that this has mostly stemmed from the House MD promo that made quite a lot of you fans, both old and new, flip out. This article addresses mostly that but hits on a deeper underlying issue.
Also, I’m a little pissed at having to constantly see S6 spoilers everywhere. By all means, discuss it, but mark it as a spoiler and discuss it in a forum, not on every pick/image/video you see. I haven’t managed to even see S5 yet, so this doesn’t help much. Because I now know what might happen in S6...I may as well write this article...which, by the way, has spoilers in it for anyone else who’s trying to stay spoiler-free. The fact that I’m actually ranting in an article about this whole thing should show you exactly how serious this is. Perhaps you new fans who don’t know me don’t realise this, but the older fans who do know me will tell you that this isn’t something I usually do. Also, if you have allergies to occasional swearing, blunt comments, or a metaphorical slap in the face, then don’t read this article. It’s your choice. You’ve also been warned that this is a Marmite article: you’ll either love it or hate it. Now on with the article... Out of the following, which would you personally be more concerned about? -Kids all over the world dying because they don’t have the necessary amenities -Exploitation of workers who get paid next to nothing just because they know nothing about minimum wage -Money being the inherent reason people go to war, costing more lives -House kissing someone who’s not Cuddy in the Season 6 promo How many of you would pick the Huddy option? Or does your love of Huddy pale in comparison to the other more serious options? From the various comments I have seen around this spot over the past month or so, it seems to me that Huddy is THE most important thing in the world. I realise that in the Huddy spot, you’ll want to talk about Huddy and not so much the serious issues. But please, please, please, will you just consider those issues before flipping out over one misleading promo? Please can you realise that fiction is not something to get worked up about. Real life, on the other hand, is a different story. Sure, I understand that some people have issues in their real lives and come on Fanpop and flail etc. as a form of escapism. But don’t let that go too far. The show WILL end at some point and I quite frankly think it’s better if it does end at some point in the near future, otherwise the storylines will get ridiculous when the writers run out of inspiration and all the ardour with which you declared yourself a Huddy fan will dissipate before the show ends. Ship what you want. Like what you want. Just remember to put things into a little perspective before overreacting. Please. Below, there are a few links where I found that some comments were just ridiculously over the top. I’m talking about the comments themselves and NOT the content, so can we make that clear please. Another reason why I’m posting the links is to show you that I did have a look around the spot and this article isn’t extrapolating one comment and turning it into this rant of an article. I’ve done my research. So don’t tell me I’m overreacting. Here are the links: House MD promo These comments are absolutely fucking ridiculous...I mean, it’s just fiction...there are far more important things to get worked up over! I never really come on the Huddy spot a lot as it is, but I still like to occasionally wander over. I used to like the Huddy spot. Now, I don’t really want to come on this spot ever again. I no longer see the point. Pick - what if there was no Huddy kiss in S6 These comments are (mostly) sensible...surprisingly. Yes, I’m shocked because I was expecting a lot more people to go ‘NOOOOOO!!!!’ or ‘Death to David!’ or something along those lines. I hope that emphasises the decline of the Huddy fandom, as I wouldn’t have actually expected this kind of behaviour beforehand despite the immature comments that have been posted over the past year. Pick - what's worse; House&Lydia or Cuddy&Lucas? Mature comments. Crikey. An apocalypse. One of the answer...question’s... Ohh, puh-lease! I spiralled into a state of (almost) depression just reading some of these comments. So, House is kissing another woman...big fucking deal. It adds a little realism to the whole Huddy relationship. Get over it. Please. Remember, it's not the article, it's the comments Thank you Hilly for trying to calm some of the fans (even if that wasn’t your intention – loving the optimism). But fans saying they’re feeling better (or not in some cases)?! Are you freaking kidding me!? If that infamous promo quite literally made you feel ill...perhaps Mayfield is better suited to you? (Bitch, please.) Oh dear, the comments on this link Cami, I could hug you to (almost) death for your good sense! *proceeds hugging to (almost) death* But seriously...it’s just a 2 second kiss...it does NOT ruin Huddy’s chances. Calm. Breathe. Quit panicking. It’s only a kiss. It’s only a TV show. Fab, you are awesome. Here’s why Someone who knows how to logically and calmly explain her point of view without sounding like an idiot. I salute you, Fab! (And of course, anyone else who made a mature comment on that forum.) Please note, it's your right to react in whatever way you please; just keep it at least somewhat sensible. Perhaps this will make you realise how stupid and insignificant it seems getting worked up over fiction. Perhaps this won’t affect you at all. Think of this what you will. At least I know I’ve tried. HuddyBrave - I can see you're a nice person from when I've talked to you on the CSI:NY related spots and realise that being a new fan and all you can easily get swept up in all the excitement of fandom. I'd be lying if I said I never got excited as a new fan. But I'm glad you responded positively rather than chopping my head off because I do like you =D
