but i don't know if ian is actually dating someone else...

the ashley and chace thing happened a long time ago. Even Ashley said it herself. She claims that both her and chace are just friends.
BOTH, the NEW pics pop out in august, the morning after teen choice awards... and ash was already wearing the short hair. but they also did kiss each other a long time ago. I'm not sure if Chace and Ash just hang out or date, but with that is impossible to Ian date her.
