does andy serkis ever appear at all in LOR ? or was he just the model for gollum, however there are many scenes with gollum in LOR, so it is difficult to know for sure whether serkis played gollum and not just the " digital gollum ".
Motion capture technology was used to turn Andy Serkis performances against a green screen into Gollum. Plus he did the voice he based on his cat coughing up a furball.
