Oh, heck yeah. This seems to be a late reply, 7 months later, but I love it too - or still? One of my favorites.
First off, her attention to sound and musical value is so good, it is erie - gives me chills.
Second, the lyrics are poetic - if you bother to read them, or just hear them well. I am among many that believe that she is exressing the pain of being left by a lover or husband. Maybe that is the obvious part.
Some of the lyrics are a little mysterious - "Trains and sewing machines, all those years, they were here first." You would have to ask her, and maybe then it was just one of those things that she wrote down that doesn't relate except in the abstract of our thoughts. But I interpreted it in this way (especially when you consider the next line):
Machines have taken a lot of the attention of men. Simply stated. Even ones like sewing machines, maybe designed for women, by men, but detracting from the raw interaction amongst us that prevailed before such machines.
When she says "They were here first," well, she means, today people have no chance competing with machines for the opposite sex's attention. Holds true for men and women, trains for men and sewing machines for women(?) - bit sexist, but she said it, and I am just trying to make sense of it, lol.

I have more to say on this piece, and ask, but this post hasn't seen action for a while, so I don't want to bore anyone, lol.
