why NOT to get an iPod.

iPods are one of the most important creations of the century. They're not too large, depending on which one you get (and even the largest makes can fit into most drainpipe/skinny jean pockets), and the battery life is good-that is, until it start's running down.
So you have to pay out again; a spend you don't need after buying an iPod, which is expensive already. Buy then, say, 6 months later, you find you can't fit half the songs you could when you originally purchased it- chances are, it's because you didn't eject it via iTunes before removing it from the computer. However, Ipods are the most popular type of personal music player, so why would the makers still let this happen? It's frustrating, and I'm sure nobody wants to buy yet another iPod when their old one is working. Personally, I had a 2GB nano, and could fit only 250 songs on it after just of year of owning. So I bought an 80gig video- which is expensive for anyone on a normal wage. But still, because of the looks and the brilliant sound and picture quality, I gave in, as do many people.
You would think the more expensive iPods would definitely be faultless, after spending around £200 on it. But no, just like the nano, it froze, and i had to wait for the new, fully-charged battery to run down, then re-charge it. It is a problem Apple need to sort out, considering they claim their product is the best. It is a silly problem, that I'm sure could easily be fixed.
So, apart from the fact they let you down at the most awkward of times, and are ridiculously expensive, iPods are amazing. Today, almost everyone has one- they're mostly reliable, sound is brilliant, and they seem to be good value for money- at least, they would be if only apple would sort out the smallest things, instead of making a new type of iPod every other week.

You can't base the iPod off that. I got an 80GB because I knew after that, I had no reason to get another one. I love mine. You've should've taken at hang when you bought you're nano that you can't fit very many songs on it. It depends on the time you buy it also, if you buy it around the holiday season, they usually don't work properl y because Apple rushes to get them in for gift giving.

Plus, why would you put a hate soapbox on the iPod spot?

It's blatEs you don't look after the product!!
Like many other technology items, you have to care for it, as well as the battery.
Best way is to CHARGE IT WHEN IT NEEDS IT!! Don't stick it in just to update it, thats when screens start to freeze and batteries start to break!!
Charge for a FULL 24 HOURS after purchase ..

I've had Dopi (my ipod) for 7 months and it's the old generation one. I've never had any problems with him, despite endless accidents including dropping and splashing!

...so spacemonkey...you seem to have just admitted to dropping yours in the sea...i don't think you look after your ipods very well as i don't think that one accident would have been your first and only with your ipods.

They need care like any electrical equipment, you can't go around dropping it carelessly everywhere, it's why they make little clip on pouches and such. And the bit about ejecting it from itunes...well that's like if you're trying to make toast and decide to skip the part where you don't put any bread in the toaster.

You should not allow the battery run down, just lock it and unlock it several times until it works.

i agree with xspacemonkeyx at some points you made. iPods are pretty fragile and they are not designed very well (well they look awesome). I had an old mp3 player, and i've been using it for...4 years now, only 512mb, but still it hasn't got any problems and i can still use it as both USB and music player.
i do think that Apple should work a bit harder to improve the actual iPod rather than just creating new ones that looks completely awesome but fragile because it costs a lot, like seriously. and i expect great products from Apple with that kind of price.

You should take it back to the store if you have problems with it. I got a 120GB iPod classic and it wouldn't work properly so I took it back and they said I should call apple for help but I said that I just wanted a new one for the price I paid (£180) so I got a new one which works fine and is very pretty! But I do agree on most of what you said about them being delicate but if you try not to drop them they should be fine but just in case I'd keep the receipt as they shouldn't break so soon after purchase and they have warranty and shizz so you can take them back and replace them with a new one .
