Which of his shows contained the saddest character death?

I've admittedly always been kind of a fairweather fan of Angel. I drifted in and out and while I enjoyed it, never really had the same passion for it that I've had for other Whedon projects but I thought Fred's death was heartbraking and even in his other shows I like better I can't think of another death I found as touching.

I view the whole thing with a strange mix of emotions because I loved the character Illyria, but I think that was one of the saddes deaths ever on television and the impact of it never seems to lessen no matter how many times I see it.

freds death was just like kinda depressing how it happened!

There were a lot of sad deaths in Buffy, including Jenny, Tara, Spike and Anya.

i cried a lot when Spike died in Buffy and Fred's and Wesley's deaths in Angel were awful too ((

OMG and it wasn't just one really sad death, there was Fred, Cordy and Wes!

4 words: wesley, cordy, fred, doyle. all of them made me cry SO much they were all horrible! buffy was sad too, but the only ones that made me cry were tara, spike, anya, joyce, and buffy 2. and buffy 2 and joyce only made me tear up a little bit, sometimes buffy 2 just gives me goosebumps (cuz i'm sad). tara's death didn't really hit me till after, but i did cry when willow went to her grave. so the only ones that REALLY made me sob were spike and anya, and just them wasn't nearly as sad as doyle, fred, wesley, and cordy put together.

I'm man enough to admit I teared up when Fred died.

Fred. Easy as that. Plus Wes if you any more convincing. Then Cordy and Doyle.

I sobbed like a baby when Fred died, snot and all.

Tara. Fred, Penny, and Wash as well in no specific order. But, yeah, Tara.

it was really hard for me to choose between angel and buffy, at first i chose buffy but when i read spikes_girls comment and rememberd them but both of them made me cry ALOT
