luv you all!! j_b End of Part 44 "Emmett loves her." Edward said, surprised by how I felt. "It hurts you to be away from her, doesn't it?" I nodded slightly. "I don't understand." I whispered. Carlisle walked over, putting a hand on my shoulder. I rose my head and looked directly into his caring eyes. "I understand. I had no idea that your bond was that strong already." He said more to himself then to me. "Quite the sup rise." "What does that mean?" I asked. "Well, your bond is much like mine and Esme's. We can't be away from each other for very long, it almost hurts us. I can't describe it very well." He said quietly. "Like a piece of you is gone?" I asked. He nodded. "Even now, a part of me wants to run to her. I can't though, they say 'distance makes the heart grow fonder.' And they are correct to a point, but the distance hurts too." I nodded. "I thought I was the only one." "No, son. I would think that Rosalie and Esme are having a conversation much like ours...well without the wolves knowing those two." Carlisle said. At that same moment, Edwards head whipped to the side. "Ohhh fun." He said as he took off running. I looked at Carlisle who shrugged quickly as he took off, running after Edward. I wanted to know so much more. I had so many questions but my curiosity was running wild...I had to know what caused Edward to have such a reaction. "Wait up." I said quietly, knowing that they both heard me. I took off running deeper into the woods, following their trail. Part 45 I could see the back of Carlisle's jacket as he ran in and out of the trees, a mere blur with speed. I laughed quietly as I let my self go, letting my speed take over. My feet were moving faster then I had ever let them go. I quickly caught up to Carlilse, and slowed to his pace...trying to figure out where we were going. We rounded the trees and saw Edward standing on a rock face. He had the strangest look on his face, it was a mix of wonder and anticipation. Carlisle and I went to stand by him, his eyes lighting up as he saw me. "You like bears, right?" He asked knowing bears were my new favorite food. "Yes." I said, still not knowing where this would lead. "Follow me. Try to be quiet though." Edward said as he began walking through the snow, his feet not making a single sound. I looked at Carlisle who shrugged and began walking slowly after Edward. I shook my head, wishing I could read minds like Edward..then started following Carlisle, doing my best not to make any noise. We all came out on a large piece of snow..or was it ice? "It's ice." Edward said as he smiled. "Oh...this is some nice ice..?" I said as I looked at him. Carlisle started laughing quietly. "You two have the best comebacks." I shrugged. "Ok this is really nice ice, but what does that have to do with bears?" "Look over there." Edward said as he shook his head. I looked where he was pointing and only saw a large snow bank...Ok I thought it was a snow bank until it moved. I cocked my head to the side as I watched something stand out of the snow. It was white, pure white like the freshly fallen snow. I wasn't sure what it was until it turned it's head in our direction, it's black eyes searching for something. It opened it's mouth and let out a roar that made my bones ache and my blood pump a little faster. "What is that." I asked, breaking each word into it's own sentence. "This Emmett is a polar bear." Edward said, watching me closely. "That is a bear?" I asked. "Yes, a very aggressive, protective, mean bear." Edward said as he smiled. "And doubly protective when it has cubs, like this one does." Carlisle added. I looked at both of them, I was so excited that I was finding it difficult to contain myself. I felt like a child on Christmas day, I could hardly wait. Edward started laughing, shaking his head at me. Carlisle looked at me, knowing that I was the source of Edward's amazement. "He's so excited. I would almost think he forgot about Rosalie." Edward said. I stopped and thought about Rosalie, what she was doing. I missed her terribly and worried that she was alright. I was thinking about Rosalie, but my eyes were only focused on the bear. "He's torn!" Edward said as he leaned on Carlisle, laughing quietly. "Torn?" Carlisle said. "Between Rosalie and the bear." Edward said. "Well you better decide quickly son, we need to get back and meet Rosalie and Esme. You don't want to make those two wait." Carlisle said, his eyes dancing. "Yeah, those two mad...the bear is nothing compared to that." Edward said. "You aren't lying." Carlisle said. "Well Emmett, which will it be? Rosalie or the bear? Or both? You need to decide now." "I want both." I said as I smiled. "Interesting, I might have to tell Rosalie you had to think about it." Edward teased. "Don't you dare." I said quietly. "Pay back will come...some day." "Boys, let's go get some bear." Carlisle said as he pointed at the bear. "Emmett, do you want the mother?" I smiled, my entire face crinkling. "Yes please." "Alright, Edward and I will take the cubs." Carlisle said, a grin crossing his face and anticipation glinting in his eyes. "On three?" "One." Edward said. "Two." I said as I leaned forward. "Three." Carlisle said as all three of us sprang at the bear. I heard the bear growl in surprise and growled back in it's face. It reared back and raked it's claws across my body, from my neck to my stomach. I looked down, expecting damage and laughed when I realized it had only ruined my jacket and shirt. I looked around and laughed. The bear took another swipe, this time trying to take my head off. I dodged it's attack at the last second, pulling my head out of the way. "Stop playing Emmett, we need to go meet them." Carlisle called. The bear took advantage of my distraction, throwing it's body on top of mine. It shoved me down into the snow, it's teeth snapping just above my face. I started laughing as I wrapped my arms around it's neck and turned them quickly, snapping it's neck in one move. I rolled the bear over and moved to it's neck in one move. I found it's artery and sank my teeth into it, feeling the blood flow into my mouth. I drank so much that I thought I might explode, my entire body yelling at me for eating too much...when I thought of a way to burn the calories. "JEEZ!!" Edward said as he sat up, finishing the cub. "She's my sister!!! Ohhhh I'm not feeling well now." He said as he started laughing. "We need to go find your sister and my wife." Carlisle said. I stood up, taking in the damage the bear had done. My entire shirt and jacket had been shredded, only small strips of cloth held it together. I decided it wasn't doing me any good, so I shrugged out of them, thinking of how Rosalie would react. I looked at Edward and started laughing. "Not fair. You did that on purpose." He called as he charged me, knocking me into the snow. "Yes, Yes I did." I said as I thought of Rosalie this morning in the bath. "And that too!" I said as he shivered. "You are the master Emmett. Now please stop." I started laughing and noticed that Carlisle was standing next to the woods, waiting for us. I really wanted to see Rosalie, and tell her what I got to fight. I hoped she would be impressed, or at least like the improvement to my outfit. |
