Taken Chapter 42

Hey!! Ok seriously this WILL be the last one for tonight...and knowing me I will probably end it with a cliff hanger....so let's see!!
End of Chapter 41 "I believe someone just left something for me?" I asked as I smiled my friendly smile at him. "Oh, yes. A man just left this for you, are you Edward Cullen?" "Yes." I said through my teeth. "Ok here." He said as he reached over and grabbed an envelope off the seat, his thoughts about how I would never miss the money that the man had left. "Thank you, and you can keep the money." I said as I turned and walked back to the now ruined doors. Chapter 42 As I walked through the doors I saw everyone watching me, only Alice moved forward. She knew there was something important in here, and she couldn't wait for me to open it. "What is that?" Emmett asked as he walked to where we stood, stepping over the bodies. Everyone else followed Emmett, Rosalie stepping carefully as she tried not to get anything on her new three inch heels. I shook my head at her thoughts about how she would make me get them cleaned if they were ruined. "Edward?" Carlisle asked as he and Esme walked over. "Someone left a package with our driver. It was what Alice's vision was, she saw someone leaving this for us." I said as I held up the plain manila envelope. "Well.....what are you waiting for?" Emmett asked, the anticipation making it difficult for him to hold still. I laughed quietly as I looked at him, shaking my head as I slid my finger along the side of the envelope. Everyone held their breath as I turned the envelope on it's side, waiting for something to fall out. I was surprised when a picture of Bella and I that was taken on her 18th birthday fell out and landed in my hand. I felt my eyes get wide as I remembered that horrible day, wondering when they had time to find her photo book and take this picture. "The back." Jasper said softly. I flipped the picture over and saw Bella's hand writing saying that it was her and I, on her 18th birthday. Beneath that was another note, it was written very small and was not her handwriting. "In this picture she was smiling, in the next she will not. Get your next clue at the airport." I read aloud, my voice becoming a growl as I said the word airport. Carlisle took the picture from my fingers before I could crush it, turning it over so that he could read the message again. "Edward, we need to get to the airport, we have to get the next clue. They must think that we don't know she got away, we can use this to our advantage." Carlisle said as he smiled. "He's right Edward, we have to play along until we are close enough, or sure that Bella got away." Jasper said as he sent reassuring feelings out. "Jazz, not now please." I asked as I glared at him. "I need my emotions, I need to use them..to keep me going." "Don't yell at him." Alice said as she stepped between us. "I'm sorry Jazz, but not now." I said as I turned and walked out the shattered front door, climbing into the first car as the rest of my family slowly followed. I was gland when Alice, Jasper and Emmett climbed into the car with me, all of the squishing into the back seat. "Edward, we will find her." Alice said as she reached forward and rested a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "And we WILL make who ever took Bella pay for all of this." Emmett said as Jasper nodded in agreement. "And it will be fun." We spent the rest of the ride talking about the possibilities of who could have taken Bella, everyone guessing it was someone we knew...or someone we had once known that was now angry. However; none of us could think of anyone specifically that would do this. I asked the driver to discribe the person who left the envelope, but he said it happened so fast he couldn't remember...and he honestly couldn't. We arrived at the airport with minutes to spare before our flight left. Carlisle went to check us in while the rest of us spread out, looking for the clue. I was roaming along the shops when I heard Rosalie yelling my name, and the sound of her heels running towards me. "Edward!!" She screamed as she ran over to me, her arms outstretched as she held out another envelope. "Where was it?" I asked. "Information desk." She said as she smiled about how smart she was. "Alice, get the others and meet at the gate." I thought as loud as I could, laughing at myself as I realized how dorky I must look as I grinned at nothing. Rosalie and I ran at human speed back to the gate, grabbing Jasper and Emmett as we found them. We met the rest of the group and I smiled when Alice was there grinning at me. I held out the envelope as I watched everyone, it was the same as the last envelope...nothing special about it except for the word CULLEN written on the outside. I opened it like last time, letting the content fall into my hand. I was instantly confused when a feather slid out of the envelope along with a plain piece of paper. I handed the long white feather to Esme as I unfolded the note. "I have your 'angel,' if you want her...come get her." The note said. I looked around at my family, this was a direct challenge to all of us and I knew instantly that we were ALL ready for this fight. |
