Taken Chapter 49

OMG Ok everyone, I can't believe that the next chapter will be 50!!! I suppose if I was just sticking to one person's POV it would only be 25...so maybe that's not that bad. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN for everything, I write for all of you and I am SO glad you enjoy the stories. Well...here we go!!
j_b End of Chapter 47 "No, Bella is fine...as far as I can tell. But we have to get to the ground, I have to call her. I have to go get her." I said as I remembered the vision. "You mean WE need to go get her." Carlisle said. "We're all doing this together." "Yes, thank you all." I said, no one doubting mt sincerity. We all took our seats still talking about the accident, everyone had questions about what happened and it was frustrating to only be able to tell them the small bits we saw. A half an hour later the pilot came on, announcing our decent into the Denver airport. Esme's hand was resting on my arm, attempting to keep me in my seat until we stopped and could get off the plane. The second the doors were open all of us were on our feet and moving to the door, making it there before the stewardess could get there. She wished us all an enjoyable time and smiled as we walked off the plane. The second we were clear of her I started running faster then I should have, knowing that there were people watching..but I couldn't wait to try calling her, I had to get outside to hear her voice, to know she was ok. Chapter 49 I ran out the front door, the cool air hitting my face as I ran out into the rain. I had my phone open and was dialing the number before my feet stopped. I heard footsteps behind me, but didn't need to turn to see my family moving behind me. Carlisle was flagging down cars, asking how far it was to New Castle. I knew everyone was climbing into cars, waiting for me to join them. The phone rang three times and a male voice answered, I was so shocked that I couldn't say anything.....I closed the phone without saying a word, panic coursing through my entire body. "Edward?" Alice called as she was about to climb into the car. I shook my head as I walked towards her, climbing into the back seat of a taxi with her and Jasper, Esme sitting in the front. She turned around and looked at me, wondering what was going on and why I looked so angry. "Edward?" Jasper asked, I knew that he had been testing my emotions since I sat in the car. He was worried about my emotional changes, apparently I had gone from over joyed to violently angry in a few seconds. "Did she answer?" Alice asked as the car pulled away. "Someone did." I said quietly. "What?" Esme said as she turned around. "Try again." Alice encouraged. I dialed the number again, it rang three times like it did last time before a male voice answered. His voice tired as he said hello three times before hanging up. "Interesting." I said as I felt myself loosing hope, my fears peaking as I imagined Bella being taken again by Gabriel. "May I try?" Alice said as she held out her hand. I gave her the phone, knowing that she probably wouldn't have anymore luck then I would...but if it would make her feel better. I sighed as she flipped it open, and dialed the phone number from her won phone. She hit the speaker option as the phone started to ring, it rang twice before a male voice answered. "Hello?" The same male voice answered. "I'm sorry, I believed that this number belonged to my friend Bella." She said, sounding as sweet as she could. "Isabella?" The voice asked, sounding surprised. "Yes, Isabella Swan. Is she there?" Alice asked. "Yes." He said as we all heard him walking around. "Bella? Bella, are you awake?" We all heard the sound of someone groan, and a few seconds later I heard the sound that I had been waiting to hear for what seemed forever. "Hello?" She asked, her voice sounded strange...almost like she had been sleeping, but it was the middle of the day. "Bella?!" Alice cried. "Alice!" She cried, I could hear her sitting up. "Oh Alice, is Edward there?" Alice turned and looked at me, but I couldn't find my voice, I was so overjoyed to hear her voice again to know that she was alright. "Edward?" She said softly. "Bella." I said as I leaned in and took the phone from Alice's hands. "I'm here, Bella." I heard her start to cry, there were so many things that I had to ask...that we had to know but right now I just was willing to do anything to get her to stop crying, the sound breaking my frozen heart. "Bella, please don't cry." I pleaded. "Bella, we're on our way...we got your message. We know you are in New Castle, we are only 30 minutes away." I said as I heard the drivers thoughts about how much he was going to make in the next thirty minutes. "If you can get us there in less then thirty minutes, I will pay you double what you were going to charge us." I told the driver, his eyes bulging as he wondered if I really meant it. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my wallet, removing one hundred dollars and threw it on the seat between him and Esme. I heard the car accelerate as we pulled in front of the taxi that Carlisle, Emmett and Rosalie were riding in. I laughed as I thought about how mad Emmett would be when he saw us pass him, knowing that everything was a competition with him. "Edward?" Bella asked. "I'm here my love, are you alright? Where are you?" I crashed our car, I lose control..I'm sorry. I was trying to be safe, we were stuck in the car and Mike, Jason and Eric came across us. I stumbled....like always," She said as she laughed, the sound like music. "I fell and apparently I hit my head, they think I have a very bad concussion or something." I laughed, it was so like Bella, she didn't get hurt when she was in a car accident...but trips over her own feet and falls. "Bella, where are you?" "Ummmm I'm not sure, I haven't been awake very often. Eric?" A second later the phone went silent and the voice that answered the phone returned. "Hello?" I asked, worried that she was hurt. "I'm sorry, she fell asleep." The male voice said. "Is she ok? Has she been seen to by a doctor?" I asked, my medical training kicking in. "Doc's suppose to be here within the hour. My mother thinks that she just has a concussion, but she keeps falling asleep." He said, he sounded a bit scared. "Eric, that's your name correct?" I asked. "Yes, and you are her boyfriend...Edward, right?" He asked, apparently Bella had been talking about me. "Yes, something like that." I said as I smiled. "Eric, we have a doctor with us..my father is a doctor. Could you tell us how to get to your house, we will come and he can examine Bella." "I think that would be fine, let me talk to my father...he'll probably come meet you in town, it's easy to get lost out here. Can I call you back?" He asked. "Yes, please call us back. We're about 10 minutes out side of New Castle, we'll stop in town and wait for your call." "Ok, I will call again in a few minutes." He said as the phone went dead. Everyone had heard the conversation, so it wasn't necessary to fill in anyone. We all talked about what could be wrong with Bella, seeing as how we all had some medical training. About ten minutes later we pulled into the small town of New Castle, Colorado. The driver pulling in front of what looked like a cafe, his meter reading $104. I reached into my wallet, pulling another hundred dollars out of my wallet and handed it to the driver as promised. We all got out, gathering our belongings as the other taxi pulled up along side. Emmett got out, angry because our cabbie was willing to be bribed when apparently theirs wouldn't be. We told everyone about talking to Bella, and I explained what I knew about Bella's injury to Carlisle as we waited for Eric to call us back. We were all standing around talking about the possibilities when all of us went still, watching as four black limousines pulled through town, one slowing as it went past. There was no mistaking the skin, hair and red eyes that were looking at us as they rolled by, my hand instantly going for my cell. |
