End of Chapter 2***Emmett's POV*** I was about to open my mouth to argue, but the look Alice gave me froze me in my tracks. I didn't have to be a mind reader to know that there was no way that she was going to be left behind. Everyone turned and looked at Carlisle and Esme who was supporting Bella's head in her hands as she ran her fingers through her hair. "Keep your phones on, and keep us updated. We'll take care of her, we'll get her back to Charlie tomorrow so he doesn't call the army." Carlisle said as he watched all of us. "We'll watch out for her, go get Edward..please." We all nodded, Alice hesitating as she watched Bella. A second later I jumped with Rosalie, Jasper and Alice following us a few seconds later, Alice running in front of us all as she stopped. "I don't know where they took him, we're going to have to run blind. I'm sorry everyone, I should have see.." She said as she closed her eyes and shook her head. "Alice," Rosalie said as she moved up and wrapped her arms around her. "This is not your fault. Just look when you can and believe we will get him back." Alice sniffled then nodded, a determined smile crossing her face. She smiled at us before she turned and took off as fast as she could, running after the cars that held our brother. Chapter 4 ***Alice's POV*** This was all my fault, I knew that Edward going up to the roof was a bad idea. I knew that Gabriel had been waiting up there, waiting to confront Edward about everything that was going on. I tried to warn Edward, tried to tell him not to go but he was so stubborn and so determined to tell Gabriel that this was all over, that this game had to end...that Bella was his. I pleaded with him and so did Bella, but he had made up his mind and we all knew that it was pointless to argue with him when he got like that. I was sitting on the bed doing my best to calm down Bella when I saw what was going to happen on the roof, the breath being sucked out of my body. I was on my feet, moving towards the door before I realized what I was doing. Carlisle grabbed my arm and looked at me, surprised by my reaction. "What did you see?" He asked, knowing my reaction was not good. "Jane, it's a trap." I said as I ripped the door open and took off running towards the stairs, hoping and praying that I would make it in time. I heard Bella scream behind me and even though I wanted to help her I knew that I had to get to Edward, had to try and stop this from happening. I ran to the stairs, aware that Rosalie was directly behind me..obviously worried about Emmett which quickly brought Jasper to my mind. I burst through the door at the same time that someone went to pull it open. I held my breath as I hoped Edward would be there, looking at me like I lost my mind...but what I saw was Emmett and Jasper, both of them looking shocked. "Where is he?" I screamed as both of them watched me...getting angrier by the second as they both stared at me. "WHERE IS HE!!" I screamed again, ignoring everyone else who was stuck in the stairwell. "I don't know." Jasper said as he moved forward quickly, wrapping me in his arms as I realized that what I had seen had come true. I blocked everyone else out, lost in my own sorrow..my thoughts circling around wondering what would have happened if I would have gotten here a few seconds earlier....would I have really battled Jane to protect Edward? The answer I knew was yes, I would have fought her with everything I had to stop her, and I would fight her to get him back. I heard Emmett say that he and Rosalie were going to go after them, and instantly I knew that I..no we had to go with them. I looked up and saw Jasper watching me closely, yet at the same time watching as Emmett and Rosalie walked to the ledge. I looked up at him and watched his face, and smiled at him as I nodded, letting him know that I wanted to go too. "Wait for us." He said as he hugged me then took my hand in his as we walked to the ledge. "Keep your phones on, and keep us updated. We'll take care of her, we'll get her back to Charlie tomorrow so he doesn't call the army." Carlisle said as he watched all of us. "We'll watch out for her, go get Edward..please." I stopped in my tracks, turning to look at Bella..instantly feeling horrible for forgetting about her. I saw her laying on the roof, Esme holding her head as they both watched us. I knew that once Bella got herself under control that Carlisle and Esme were going to have their hands full with her. She was not going to want to just go back to Forks, to go back with them and not the rest of us...especially Edward. I looked at Bella, trying to let her know that I was sorry, but I had to try and get him back...and from the look she gave me she understood. "I don't know where they took him, we're going to have to run blind. I'm sorry everyone, I should have see.." I said after I jumped off the roof, running ahead of all of them, causing them to stop. "Alice," Rosalie said as she moved up and wrapped her arms around me. "This is not your fault. Just look when you can and believe we will get him back." I sniffed loudly as I nodded, knowing that she was right...but also knowing that it would be up to the four of us to get him back and time was against us. I stretched my hand out, smiling as Jasper's wrapped around mine. "Let's go find him." Jasper said as he squeezed our fingers and took off running in the direction that the cars had gone. We fallowed them back to Denver, none of us stopping until we got to the airport. Emmett was so mad that we didn't catch them that he actually hit the wall of the airport, cracking the cement. He grinned as he brushed the bigger chinks away with his foot. "Oops." He said as he smiled at Rosalie. "Don't you dare." She said as he flexed his fingers, then started pouting. "Where did they take him?" Jasper asked me. I closed my eyes, everything fading into the background leaving nothing but Edward and what was happening to him. I felt Jasper's arms wrap around me from behind as he held me up, but I managed to push even him away as I focused on Edward. I caught a glimpse of something, a man offering his merchandise...the language I haven't heard in a long time. I also heard a woman offering...herself to someone and for a second Gabriel's face flashed into my mind causing me to gasp and loose the image. "I know where he is." I said as I gasped. "Where?" Jasper asked as he smoothed my hair out of my face. "South Africa." I said softly, disbelieving that they would take him there. "Let's go!" Emmett said as he grabbed Rosalie's hand and started to stomp towards the ticket counter. "Emmett, wait." Rosalie said as she pulled on his hand, stopping him before he stepped into the glare of the sun. "Oh." He said as a family walked by, wondering what a bunch of teens were doing without any parents. "Let's go find mom and dad." Jasper said as he turned and walked back towards the parking garage. We all went back to the dark of the parking garage, talking about what they could be doing in South Africa....what they could possibly want there? I looked for anything that could change in Edward's future, I was getting frustrated..nothing changing until I saw something that literally knocked me off my feet. "Alice!" Jasper said as I looked up at him from the ground, wondering how this happened? "Edward." I whispered. "No Edward." "What's wrong with her??" Rosalie asked. "They're going to starve him...and make him feed." I managed to whisper as I stood up and stomped down the hallway to the ticket counter, doing my best to stay out of the sun...but not caring at the same time. |
