have you heard that Tim Burton has shown an interest in remaking 'Labyrinth'?

Apparentely Tim showed an interest in remaking the cult movie classic 'Labyrinth' at a meeting.

what do you think?

i think it would be a flop.but if it had the guy potraying Jareth lip syncing Davids voice in the songs,it might not be that bad...

the film would fit tim burtons style yes, but this film is such a wonderful one, i don't want him to change the image i alreadyt have for the film.

^^ I agree. Although I LOVE Tim Burton films, I don't see the point in doing a remake. For a starters it couldn't have David & Jennifer in it (too old now...) and so it just wouldn't be the same. They should just leave it as it is.

You know i've heard a number of myths about the making of a Labyrinth sequal. The Jim Henson studio's have had on-again-off-again production for a sequal to the Dark Crystal and talks were that if that film did well they might move onto the Labyrinth 2. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl Henson (jim's daughter and now president of the Jim Henson Foundation) she neither confirmed nor denied this. Although, i've heard that Jennifer Connelly has expressed interest if production was a go.

There have been a few Labyrinth manga books written based 16 years later with Jareth wanting to retire and have a now older Toby be the Goblin King. Much like the original film, Sarah has to go after him. I like the sound of this plot.

As for Tim Burton directing it: God i hope not. I love the man's original work, I really do. My loyalties still lie with HIS Batman films, and Nightmare Before Christmas is one of the greastest animated films of all time. HOWEVER his style has become too iconic and somewhat self-indulgent that i think it would distract from the film in the EXACT same way it did to 'his' take on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And if he should stray from the original format and 'make it his own'...i would lose respect for the man. AAAAAaaannd if he cast Johnny Depp as Jareth...well...I'll wait till that happens to make any death threats. But I seriously can't think of many things that would make me THAT irrate. He could produce it though.

lol wow yeah i wrote this last night in a grouchy sleep-deprived state. Let me clarify that i do enjy Tim Burton (though his style and his use of Johnny Depp is somewhat monotonous). But i do love Jim Henson more and the Labyrinth is an important piece of my childhood. So if Burton was to take anything away from Henson and Fraud's vision I'd have such mixed feelings.

Maybe he can cast Orlando Bloom and Patterson (that Twilight guy). But it'll never be the same without Bowie.

Tim Burton is an AMAZING person with such wonderful movies..ok Labyrinth is by far my FAVORITE movie since i was little and Jim Henson is a legend(may he rest in peace)and Labyrinth is Jim's movie creation that should not be remade..ok it could be cool with Tim Burton's imagination style but it would not be the same with Jennifer Connelly,no one can take her place, maybe you can change toby, but even Jareth(David Bowie)could not be played by anyone else..it would not be the same..at all! AND...if they just used only computer animation for their creative ideas what would be the point of that? where would the "magic" be? Mr. Henson and the rest of the crew took their ideas, creations, etc and made them by hand..that is the real work..not that half ass crap they have now to quicky make a movie..Tim Burton like i said b4 is AMAZING and i do love and respect his work(nightmare before christmas is soooo awsome!)this movie needs to be at it's original state..leave it alone...

I agree that Labyrinth is a league of its own, it just cannot be replaced by anyone now that Jim Henson is gone (RIP) and Jennifer and Bowie too old. But deep inside me, I kinda wish they made a sequel earlier. Cos there are so many questions wrt their relationship left hanging. Sarah wa a girl then and did not even have a boyfriend before. Will she be able to respond more maturely to Jareth's love if she grew up? And Jareth, can he mature to see that love is not just controlling someone? There are things I wish a sequel could addressed. But no one can do the job now so I guess we'll just leave it to the fans' imagination. I don't think I will support a sequel even if it comes out, it's not the same anymore.
