I am writing this letter to the New York Senate. Could you help me edit it or give any advice? Do you think I was too rude about it? Thank you.

Here is the letter:

To the New York Senate,

I am completely and utterly ashamed that you have voted down the same-sex-marriage bill on December 2nd of 2009. It is not only unjust, it is not only morally wrong, and it is not only discrimination against a minority just because they are slightly different. It goes against several laws and rights of the United States of America.

By denying same-sex-marriage, you are not only denying these couples a title of “Mr” and “Mrs”. Did you know that there are 1,300 rights that come with marriage that you are denying these people? Some of these rights include the right to see their loved one on his or her deathbed, health benefits gained in marriage and the right to take family leave so that you may care for your partner if he or she has an illness. Last night I was out with my friends from my acting troup and we ran into some girls from my old private school. A few miutes ltr my girlfriend asked me for kiss so I gave her one. The private school girls said,"oh my god they're just kids I can't beleive they've been exposed to that already!". I know these girls they're sluts! I know they wouldn't have said anything if we had been a boy and a girl! Were not to young to kiss each other I mean it's not like we were making out in the middle of the street. My girlfriend and I ran off with our other friends (who are also gay, therefore understandig and not homofobic) and left those bitches behind. I guess the moral is... Remove yourself from victimizing situations but at the same time don't hide who you are for the benifit of the peace of mind of cruel people.

While by no means perfect, the treatment of homosexuality in modern media is improving. Gay storylines were once introduced purely for shock value, but now their appearance is far more commonplace and is often portrayed as legitimate drama (or comedy) alongside heterosexual narratives. However, while treatment of simple homosexuality has been increasingly progressive, bisexuality remains a subject without decent representation in many shows. This includes shows that would otherwise have a decent portrayal of homosexuality, but have somehow missed the boat when it comes to the concept of being attracted to both genders rather than just being gay or straight. Such examples are found in Will and Grace, Friends, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Will and Grace is a generally progressive show as sitcoms go. Its premise involves a straight woman (Grace) and a gay guy (Will) sharing an apartment. Also among the main characters is Will’s gay friend Jack. Elements of the gay community are frequently featured in a positive light, if stereotypical. The show has been criticized for their stereotypical depictions, but I think it is forgivable given...
