(S05E09) "Dude, your English is awesome." - Hurley

We've had two weeks to stew on the events of "LaFleur" and maybe that's why I went into "Namaste" expecting so much more. That isn't to say that I was disappointed with the Oceanic Six/Left Behinders reunion. The simplest way to put it is that the nature of the narrative on Lost has forced the show to change so that these are the types of stories that are most organic to the plot now.

The flashbacks from the first few seasons are a distant memory at this point, and it's exciting because for a while now, we've been watching stuff that didn't already happen. Well ... technically it did since they're all in 1977 now, but you get what I mean. One thing is for certain - no matter how you slice it, three years is a long time.

Sterling Beaumon (Young Ben) Answers Fan Questions on LOST.COM
Mar 18, 2009 at 08:32AM

Yesterday was a fun day. For about 18 minutes I stopped working in the salt mines and called LOST actor Sterling Beaumon on the phone for an arranged interview. It's difficult to hear my part of the conversation since my cell phone was nearly out of range, however Sterling (who plays young Ben on LOST) comes in mostly loud and clear. Tonight's episode (3/18/2009) , Namaste, is the first of a 4 episode character arc involving young Ben. The first 3 episodes are entitled Namaste, He's Our You and Dead is Dead while the title of his 4th episode may possibly be top secret. He confirms the story that an actor revealing show secrets is subject to a 5 million dollar fine and adds that such an actor would no longer appear in the show. Yikes!

I was pleased to discover that Sterling is a real fan of the show. He checks the message boards and listens to the podcasts like the ABC podcast with writers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. He reveals that he knows writer Damon Lindelof and has met Carlton Cuse. I knew that Lindelof had given him 3 LOST theories while guaranteeing that one of them is actually true. The theories are as follows:
(1) Locke is Ben's Brother
(2) Charlotte is little Annie years later
(3) Miles is the son of Marvin Candle

Sterling is convinced that theory 1 may actually be valid since John Locke's mother did not die and would be older by the time Ben was born. Both women have the same hair and eye color. We also talked about the fact that both women cried out similarly: Name him John! and Name him Benjamin!

Matthew Fox says he's done with TV after Lost

Matthew FoxCall me crazy, but in today's economy, I don't think anyone can be picky when it comes to getting a job.

Unless you're Matthew Fox.

According to various reports, the Lost star claims that when the sci-fi drama finally ends, it'll be the last TV show he ever does. Part of me doesn't blame him. He spent six years on Party of Five, another year trying to make something out of nothing on the abysmally bad UPN (remember them?) drama Haunted, and it'll be five more years notched for him once Lost ends.

Lost wants YOU to name the season finale cliffhanger

LostEvery year, the Lost producers and writers come up with a name for the big shocking moment in the season finale. The first season finale, where Walt was taken by the Others, was called "Bagel." When Penny's team found the island it was called "Challah." That was the end of the bread names. When we found out Jack was in a fast forward, it was called "The Rattlesnake in the Mailbox," which I still don't understand (not that I do understand "Bagel" and "Challah"). Last season's big twist was called "Frozen Donkey Wheel," which makes sense (the wheel that Ben turned to get off the island).

This year it's going to be different: you get to give a name to the season finale.

Death is coming to Chuck, Lost, Ugly Betty, Law and Order: SVU, other shows

ChuckMichael Ausiello is the harbinger of death.

OK, to be more specific, he's the guy to go to if you want to know how many people are going to die at the end of the season on your favorite show. He's not naming any names (if he knows them), but we can probably make some sort of guess for each one.

We've already discussed the death coming up on Heroes, but now it looks like three people are going to die on the show. Two of them will stay dead, and one is a fake out. I would guess that Danko is one of the people who is going to die (I don't see Zeljko Ivanek coming back to the show next season), but I'm not sure who the other one will be. I'm sure Tracy is involved, though I'm not sure if she will stay dead, come back to life, or split into another personality or whatever.

TV Squad Ten: TV's biggest tramps
Mar 16, 2009 at 02:30PM

kate austen lostYou've gotta admit: tramps are fun. Their boozy, often promiscuous antics are the life of any party. Whether you're cheering them on or witnessing their antics with horror, tramps make any situation interesting. The same goes for TV shows. From Blanche DuBois to, well, most of The Real World cast members after season 3 or so, the television landscape has been filled with entertainingly trampy characters.

They may steal your husband, dance on a bar, or just generally leave a path of destruction in their wake. Whatever it is, it's sure to be memorable. For this reason, TV tramps are not to be looked down upon; they are to be revered. So consider this list a tribute: a tribute to TV's biggest tramps. May they never reexamine the path their life has taken.
