From Friday’s Weekend Look section of The Oklahoman.
Country songstress Martina McBride wraps herself in hits
Fashionable country star Martina McBride likens selecting the just-right songs for her albums to choosing perfect frocks for her wardrobe.
“It’s like looking at a rack of 450 beautiful dresses. You know there’s gonna be four or five that fit you just perfectly and that are flattering and that make you feel good when you wear them. The other ones are beautiful, but they’re not right. If you need 10 dresses and you can only find four out of that first batch, then you have to wait for the next batch of dresses,” she said.
“So, it’s really just about waiting for the right fit to come along.”
The big-voiced songstress is touring in support of her 10th studio record, “Shine,” which debuted in spring at the top of the country album charts. Her tour will bring her to Oklahoma for two shows this weekend: Friday at WinStar Casino in Thackerville and Saturday at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami.

NYC, Paul McCartney, and England
Hey everybody,
Here we are in Chipping-Campden, England. We started our vacation in NYC after the Today Show. I have never really had any time in NY where I don't have to work or keep some kind of schedule! Took the girls to Dylan's Candy Bar...got big points for that. Went to see Shrek on Broadway. Really fun. Did a little shopping. Ate at Angelo's on Mulberry Street in Little Italy (a favorite of ours). But the highlight for us was going to see Paul McCartney at CitiField, which used to be Shea Stadium. We found our seats and were blown away to find out the were 6th row, dead center! Perfect seats. Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins were sitting RIGHT BESIDE US. She is one of my VERY favorite actresses, but I didn't want to bother her, so I didn't say anything. Should have, but oh well.... Needless to say we were excited to see Sir Paul, and he did not disappoint. Opened the show with Drive My Car. It just kept getting better from there. It started to rain, but it didn't even matter. Ava was tired so I made a "bed" on the seats out of our shirts and she slept through most of the concert, rain and all....

Life is sweet these days for Martina McBride, though likely busier than ever. With three beautiful daughters, a loving husband and a new album that recently debuted at No. 1 on the charts, Martina has a lot to celebrate but very little time to relax.
As CMA Music Fest approaches, Martina is gearing up for the YWCA Celebrity Auction, which she'll co-host. She recently struck a deal with Napa Valley's Blackbird Vineyard to issue a Martina McBride signature series wine, and she's been busy writing new music she hopes will land in an upcoming film.
"I wrote this song with Rachel Thibodeaux and Tommy Lee James, and it just seems like it fits a movie, so we're trying to pitch it to some movie people," Martina tells the Boot. "The title is 'Unbreakable.' We don't have a particular movie in mind. We're just getting a really good demo so we could go out there and let people hear it, and see if they want to put it in their movie.
"I've had a song in a film, but not a song that I've written. 'I Love You' was in 'Runaway Bride' and 'There You Are' was in 'Where The Heart Is,' but those songs were pulled off of albums, and I thought it would...
