Me too. My family always played his music and other classics. I didn't join this spot till recently because I didn't find it. I searched it once and got nothing.(I was rushing though so I might have spelt his name wrong) Then the day he died I searched again cause I knew there had to be one and got it...
Anyway some people are becoming fans now because they feel bad. Some might have not heard his music till now. I don't think that is bad. If they enjoy his music they are fans to me. It doesn't really matter how they found it.He made his songs to be listened to right?
But if they are only fans because of his death and they think it is cool to be a "Michael Jackson Fan" than that really is not what it is all about.
So if they are a new fan doesn't mean they feel bad. It might mean that but not for everyone.

I wasn't very exposed to Michael's music until he passed away. When the radio started playing his music I fell in love with every song. I do feel very sorry for his family and especially his kids, but that has nothing to do with me liking his music. I just wish that I could have enjoyed his music this much while he was alive.

I was a true fan (not fanpop) of blessed Michael in the 70s. I became a fan of Michael (during fanpop) before he passed away. No media is going to sway me to become a fan of them 'cause he/she passed away. I'm NOT SHALLOW. I love who deserves to be loved, no media is going to sway me.

I am 25 and i grew up with Michael Jackson's songs, i always liked him and respected as a great artist and unbelievable dancer... I started to be interested in his work deeply about year ago and became a fan...Here, on fanpop, i am newly arrived.
Why after Michael Jackson's death there are more fans than before?
I think, this grief united people, who always loved MJ, and they have a need to share their thoughts and feelings, to pay their tribute to this person...Some people, who didnt know about Michael Jackson before(for example the younger generation)have just started to listen his music...

I always loved his creativity very much. I always dreamed about albums. He danced and sang divinely. However I am ashamed because I didn`t pay enought attention to him and his life, his songs... Even it`s too late, I must say: "I`m SORRY MICHAEL JACKSON!!!You are always in our hearts!!"

i adore michael jackson since i was 5 years old and he is my life....i was so sad when he died i cried 4 days and i was really depressed :(
i think people who love people after their death are really wierd haha :)

well, I knew his music.I used to always imagine new steps to replace the ones in Thriller (like I really could lol) with my friends. But I wasnt a real fan of him.But now, I want to commemorate him, because he was really a great singer, thats why I joined the spot.

I've always loved Michael and his music since i was tiny, so the untimely passing of him shocked me a lot.
i don't necessarily agree with people who have only just started liking him and his music because he has died, i don't believe they are true fans. but i think Michael has probably forgiven them for their treason.
Even when the fake rumours were being spread, i knew they were fake.
my great uncle was a friend of Mj's, so i got to meet him once. my great uncle told me how much Michael hated being called 'wacko jacko'.
i hate the paparazzi people who spreaded the bad rumours about him just so they can get money and publicity. but at what price? the king of pop's life. the stress of it is mainly what gave him the cardiac arrest.

i hate the ridiculous rumours spreaders.

i liked michael but his songs to me back then where like any other song but when he died i heard them again and they touched my heart and i became obsessed with his music and his history.
