Phelps at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games
|
So, for school I had to write an article for math class. It's pretty shity considering I wrote it in one class period and had to focus on other things than what I really wanted to write about, but here it is:
When he was younger, Michael Phelps barely ever thought of swimming. The only thought it ever crossed his mind was when, it involved his sister, who swam. He was always more interested in other sports like lacrosse or baseball. But, being the youngest he wanted to do what his older sisters did. So, he tried swimming. He was eleven, then.
Being gifted automatically in the sport, he prospered greatly. But, when he trained with a new coach, Bob Bowman, he retaliated. And yet, he still got better. He became more comfortable with his new coach and got so much better, that at fifteen, went to the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Somewhat jet-lagged and nervous before the block, he psyched up. He stepped up to the block and on that beep swam. The event was the 200 butterfly. And he placed fifth at the Olympics, at fifteen.
