Yes, we know Dale the whale is involved but the way I see it is, is that it HAS to be someone Monk knows. As mad as this sounds, I think the Captain might be involved! And now the series is almost over, the writers have nothing left to loose!

i'm not very sure but i think that real big fat guy that monk put in jail either did it or knows who did i thin they refer to him as 'the whale'

The Captain killed Trudy. She was an investigative reporter. She found dirt on the Captain and he killed her to protect himself. To make sure Adrian never finds out or if he does start to figure things out, the Captain will know if he's getting close.

you guys should go to the usa page for monk. there is an entire section just for Trudy's files and you can even make a case with evidence that you think is linked, its alot of fun. There are alot of different possibilites, a lot of different angles, the thing is that not all the evidence is in yet so its hard to say exactly. we all know dale the whale is involved but i feel that he would be too easy. I think it is someone who used him and his distain for trudy. someone with their own axe to grind. but until we are given more clues we are at a stalemate

it was the caption of course! do you honestly think it will someone new. it has to be him. he wanted him off the force. after trudys death he pretended to be there for him and nice so he let him be a privet detective. who else would it be randy couldn't, why would Sharona or Natalie they never met him before they were his assistant. consider my prediction.

What about Judge Hackman? The Judge knew Trudy and Monk and appears to have been close to them. Judge Hackman had dinner with Judge Lavinio the night she was murdered. And Judge Hackman appears to have had some dealing with Dale Biederbeck. In season 1, episode 4, "Mr. Monk Meets Dale the Whale", Dale seems to have known everything the police did whenever they would arrive at this home. The Judge seems to be very cautious in regards to the investigation of Mr. Biederbeck. Also, this was the first season, since the producers did not know if there would a second season, they had to have all the players make an appearance. Motivate, Trudy's investigation discovered "The Judge's" connection with Union Chief Ed Lindley and the corruption on the San Francisco docks. Is the "R" for Randy? Maybe, he was put in place right after Trudy's death. Why and my whom? The Judge? To keep tabs on the investigation? Who knows? It has been a wonderful series and I hate to see it go, but we will have 8 seasons on DVD.

Sadly, I'm now considering the Captain as the murderer, or at least having a lot more to do with it than he lets on... The evidence against him certainly is worrying. :/
