This song always has a nostalgic pull on my heartstrings. Back then, I was at the point in my life when all my peers' lives were changing; as a group, we were getting jobs, buying homes, acquiring some gravitas if not respectability, settling down and getting hitched. My friends Rich and Christy got married at a lovely spot in the outdoors in Lafayette (I think), and all my friends were there, honoring them in the sunshine and enjoying our time together. Even now, I get a welling of affection for them all, remembering how the mass of us walked down the leaf-strewn hill, singing this song in chorus and waving goodbye to them as they were driven off in a limousine to their honeymoon. The song evokes love and a sense of the passing of an era, for me, and I can't hear it without getting a little misty.
Hilariously, I didn't know until this moment that the song was called "Good Riddance".
