In 1994, South African photojournalist Kevin Carter won the Pulitzer prize for his disturbing photograph of a Sudanese child being stalked by a vulture (left). That same year, Kevin Carter committed suicide.

Without the facts surrounding his death, this behavior may seem surprising. But Carter received heaps of criticism for his actions. While in Sudan, near the village of Ayod, Carter found a small, emaciated toddler struggling to make her way to the food station. Photography! Who could have thought that we would now be able to take pictures through a digital camera and transfer to a computer and change the colors or any of the attributes of an image or a photograph?


Digital cameras are sharper and provide high quality pictures that can be used over multiple mediums. Sir John Herschel is a man who invented the term ‘Photography’ in 1839. This was also the year when the process of Photography was unveiled to the public.

This is technically very interesting, but I'm simply amazed that no one has put one and one together: enable video capture on the SLR camera. And yes, I mean on pro models like the new EOS 1Ds Mark III and 1D Mark III along with the plastic SLRs.
