Should "Goodbye Love" have been cut?

marissa posted on May 26, 2007 at 05:45AM
I loved this song in the musical and was really disapointed when it didn't make it into the movie.

i understand it had to be cut fot time reasons, and that there was just "too much emotion", but i think the audience could have handled it.

besides, its such a great song, wouldnt it be worth it?

anyways, thought?

It's one of the best songs and Rosario's voice is beautiful when she sings it. I really wish they hadn't cut it out!

I really don't like the Daphne version, but it would've been soooo grreat if they would have kept it in the movie!! That is like the most played song on my iPod!!

Now that I have watched the deleted scenes I think that it should have been cut. It would have been a great scene if only they had filmed it at the graveyard right after the begining of the song. But i hate how in the musical Mark says "Mimi still loves Roger" instead of "Mimi still loves you"

They took out the "Goodbye Love" part of the song! I mean, come ON! I love that song.

And I love Rosario and Daphne in equal measure. Daphne has classic character, Rosario has tragic beauty. They both have their pros and cons.

And by the way, in the musical, "Mimi still loves Roger" is an aside. Mark delivers it to the audience, like he's narrating his film again, and Roger overhears him as he's by the door, about to leave.

It's actually a very powerful moment, because it's like Mark doesn't even want to talk to Roger anymore, hiding behind his camera again. It was heartbreaking.
