Why is 28 Days Later/Exterminio so similar to Resident Evil 1/2 films?

I liked the resident evil films and when I finished seeing them I was going to check the film 28 Days Later also known as Exterminio, but as soon as it started, it seemed to me it ws exactly like the end of the first film.

Did 20th Century Fox (28 distributor) get info leaked on Sony's Resident Evil film and made their own version or something like that?

28 Days Later was inspired by the book I Am Legend as well as the Romero Zombie films. (The Resident Evil games are also inspired by Romero's zombie movies)
28 Days Later has nothing to do with Resident Evil whatsoever.
So the fact that both movies have similar settings is cause they're both Romero inspired.
