The seventh series of our favourite medical comedy is approaching, and it seems it's the last. It's been a crazy seven years, but there's a reason why this show is so popular.
People are very fond these days of complaining that Scrubs has changed and that they don't like it anymore. I'm not denying it's different, but change is good. It would be boring if it was exactly the same. It happened to Friends, it's happened to The Simpsons, to South Park. The show needed to stay fresh. Would anyone really be happy if JD and Elliot had not been on/off, or there were no big stories that changed the characters' lives?
And sure, maybe the writers have taken a few liberties with believability, and maybe people are fed up of JD and Elliot being unrealistic. But this isn't a realistic show. It's about exaggerated life.
But if the characters weren't at all believable, would I find myself crying every time I watch "My Lunch"?
That aside, whenever I watch an episode of Scrubs I find that in essentials it is still the same in that it can be touching and hilarious in equal measure.
Maybe it had to end now as they've taken it as far as it can go. However I'll see it out to the end, because although it's changed I still love it. Maybe some people think it's changed too much for them to like it anymore. So change the channel.
But I for one will buy all the DVDs and laugh and cry all over again. I for one will miss it when it's gone, no matter how much it's changed.

I can't help but think back to 'My Own Personal Jesus' in the first season as a particularly dramatic episode, but I know exactly what you mean.
What I really enjoy about Scrubs is how it covers all aspects of life from so many points of view, and how most people can relate to at least one character on the show. I'm sure I'm not alone in identifying numerous personality traits found in myself to some in JD, while Dr Cox makes me feel a bit less... well, mean. =D
They've definitely toned down the comedy element for Season 6 though, I can't think of as many times where I've been close to wetting myself as in previous seasons, but the last seven episodes of the season I found to be absolutely spot-on dramatically. I found myself chastising JD for being an idiot, then empathising with him as he found out about Kim, etc etc...
What I didn't like was leaving the whole season on a cliff-hanger, although apparently they had an alternative ending in case the show wasn't renewed for a last season.
I've rambled rather a lot, so I'll stop now. =P
Hope everyone enjoys the 7th season as much as I plan to.
