I was standing consumed in my thoughts as usual. My tendency to get lost in my past was increasing for once my whole life lay right in front of me constantly repeating itself in my head for the things I had done, the things I never should’ve done and the things I wished I could change. Maria… the name resounded in my head I could remember it all so clearly. The gunshot, the scream, the sound of her collapsing to the ground as I stood unable to do something I couldn’t save her. My fists clenched together in seething anger and contempt for the person who dared to take her away from me if I hadn’t promised. Oh, if hadn’t promised.
She came out of nowhere a shimmering haze of yellow she knocked right into me I didn’t move an inch and she collapsed to the ground. Her expression was one of fear as her eyes met my watchful blood red ones. Her irises were sky blue that glowed in any lighting, even the dark. But she wasn’t alone, she’d brought friends a whole pack of blood hungry monsters all their expressions daring. I sniffed as if those pack of amateurs could take me they can’t even catch a simple cat and I’d stopped her without even trying. Without a single care I turned to walk away and let the creatures do their worst
And then I stopped.
I turned to watch the girl to see if she’d ask for help but she’d just lay there propped up on her hands as if she accepting her fate. Something about the calm serenity on her face just reminded me of Maria not wanting to kick up a fuss just coming into terms with the situation, inviting death. Not even I could explain what I did next. Instinctively I leaped in front of the girl
“Hey leave her alone,” I growled and the monsters simply laughed at me they had no idea just who they were dealing with
“Stay out of this little hedgehog this is private business,” said the presumed leader they circled me and the girl who was in a daze
“I’m going to ask you one more time to leave her alone,” I told him keeping my voice even. Carelessly he took a step towards the girl
“So be it,” I muttered under my breath and I yelled “Chaos Blast.” and the monsters disappeared I smiled smugly in satisfaction my work was done I’d saved her.
“Wait,” she called after me I looked at her she had a surprisingly sweet and musical voice, like wind chimes. “Why did you save me?” I narrowed my eyes I hated answering questions I didn’t know the answer to
“A simple thank you would be nice,” I said coldly
“Thank you,” her smile was slightly mocking
“What’s you’re name?”
“I’m Laila Rose,”
“Shadow,”
I thought for a moment.
“Rose…I’ve heard that name before,”
“Well you’ve obviously met my sister Amy I‘m trying to find her.”
