Anywho, Access Hollywood has been stalking anyone who was even remotely involved in Sunday’s DU-Shi incident, and they found some eyewitness who said the driver of the other vehicle actually told Shia to take off. Shia, however, decided to stay.

“Shia was tending to the other people in the car, signing over information, like insurance and stuff and basically, I overheard the guy tell him, ‘You should just get out of here and go,’ and Shia said, ‘Nah man. I gotta deal with this. My license plate, it’s my car. I don’t wanna go, I gotta deal with this.’”

“The guy Shia hit told him, ‘You should get outta here,’ and ‘I never saw you.’ He said, ‘I never saw you,’ and Shia said, ‘No, man, I gotta stay here and deal with this. It’s my problem.”

In 2004, Shia contributed this short essay to the book, I Am Jewish. It is a collection of statements by well-known Jews inspired by the last words of journalist Daniel Pearl. Pearl was murdered by Islamic terrorists because he was a Jew. The book was edited by Judea Pearl, Daniel's father.

Shia writes:

First off, let me make clear that I am in no way a Jew who attends Shabbat every Friday or puts t'fillin on before I go to sleep.
I am what you would call a claimer Jew. See, I claim to be Jewish because it is beneficial to be Jewish. I benefit from saying I am Jewish. How?
I have a personal relationship with God that happens to work within the confines of Judaism.
Judaism to me is the name of the telephone in my heart that allows me to speak to God.
Really, I feel cocky when I say I am Jewish, not bad cocky, but good cocky. Because what I am really saying is that I am one of the few chosen ones out there. I made it; God chose me and I take pride in that

Shia: [Why he became an actor] Greed. I was poor and it was a way to get out of the hood.

Shia: [when asked about what it's like to be a celebrity] I'll tell you when I become one.

Shia: To be an actor, a true actor, you have to be brokenhearted.

Shia: Talent is funny, I've always looked at talent like what the hell does talent really mean? Talent is to actors what luck is to card players. It's not really anything, it's just a fictitious word that people have created and labeled things. Talent is like you know I never really believed in talent, I believed in drive and determination and preparation but talent is sort of like luck. I wouldn't want to think of myself as talented it doesn't seem like there's any validity in that. I like to think of myself as an ordinary man with extra ordinary determination. That's it.

Shia: Acting is more of an art form than an occupation.

Shia: Would I want to win an Oscar before I'm 40? Maybe. Would I want to win one before I'm 25? No.
