There is not much we can let slide when one of our favorite series turns into a slight remake of another film, series be it.
I was actually intrigued by 'Metallo' even though there were the 'blah' moments it was still a part of consistency embedded into the Season 9 approach. I actually expected to see a bit more of Zod and get some questions answered about Lois' dream, but when this episode opened with a shirtless Clark running out into a deserted town and a drooling Lois, I remember turning away from the television and letting off a deep sigh saying 'They didn't just do that'.
Maybe this sci-fi-horror-action filled episode was placed in the third episode slot for a reason. They needed to develop Zod's plot since he's barely getting enough screen time. The writers probably wanted us to shiver at the thought that this is what Zod is capable of to bring the Krptonion to front view. The writers possibly believed that they could use the hype from '28 Days Later' and maybe a dose of 'Resident Evil' to draw out the intensity in the plot, that 'Smallville' could pull it off, but I really couldn't tolerate it. What was Chloe planning to do after she locked that door?
I understand what this episode was trying to accomplish. The idea of basing Doomsday's background, and the revelation that the Kent's could have easily found Davis instead of Clark was cute.

At first I wondered if they were playing the right episode from the time Lionel, Martha and Johnathon took the stage (It was nice viewing old faces again though) I actually kept a look out for Lex (luckily I didn't hold my breath). Then there was the liquid that formed into a boy, then I knew that was something new.
What had me cracking up was little Alexander (Lex) Luthor (Oh that explains his baldness).
On a simple note this episode was just average and the only problem it faced was executing the story.
I really missed Erica Durance (Lois) here, she always adds a sense of humor to each episode and it felt like something was missing.

Usually when I get this excited for an episode, it always blows out of proportion and does a complete 180 on the quality I expect. Smallville has delivered some overwhelming Clois moments and the conflict among Clark, himself and Zod has been well established, but I was still waiting for the other shoe to drop and it kept on strong. The effects were widely attractive, like the action scenes and the consistency with Season 8 Lois.
'Pandora' dealt solely with Lois' missing three weeks of memory and her sudden divulge into the future. I kept channeling my thoughts to the season 8 finale, where Lois finished speaking to the 'Red, Blue Blur' back when he was still called that and her sudden altercation with Tess, and I actually tried to mesh my trend of thought with Lois' mindset. Basically she and Clark didn't kiss before, so when Clark embraced Lois as if they were lovers in the future I kept thinking 'maybe they had a connection', but then I reminded myself that it was the first time Clark saw Lois in months. The same reaction he had to seeing her in the train was close to the one he had when he gave up his watch to possibly save her life. (That explains how that ninja...
