Watching the news this summer as speculation raises about the transfer fee for some players (players in question shall remain nameless) has me wondering what is going on in some executive's minds.
Is this just a carnival side show where managers and agents are trying to hype their player like a boxing promoter hypes his fighter?
I must say that I thought the 60 million and 55 million paid for Zidane and Figo respectivley were nuts at the time, but at least these were proven players who performed at the top level year after year. The bunch of players getting all the press with big transfer price tags have had a year or two at best... and nothing near as spectacular as the best seasons Figo and Zidane had.
I think we may be at the top, with a serious decline in transfer fees coming after this madness.
its the same thing...kinda...with the whole kaka business, isnt it? i mean, now its getting ridiculous. even though he is a relly good player, and all that, the loads of money being thrown at him. i want him to stay at ac milan, they'd be crazy to lose him.
Of course the new record-breaking players are nowhere near as good as some others who have transferred for a lot less, but the fact is, when you sign a mega-high profile player like Ronaldo, people will buy shirts and season tickets and if the club goes on tour people in other countries will do anything to see the players play, so they're worth it in the sense that the clubs who buy them will most likely get their money back.
