NBS would have been a far better show than Studio 60...

After the first few episodes something became apparent. The concept of the show was fine... better than fine. But the potential would have been extraordinary if the show was about the executives running a network - not two guys running a sketch comedy show.

Some of the best story lines come from the dynamics of running a network (censorship, politics of advertising and marketing, new shows and old shows, etc...).

I would love to see this come back (or another writer develop the concept) of the "behind-the-scenes" at a national network.

Unfortunately it looks like Aaron Sorkin has moved on and we'll never get this potenitally great show!

"Another writer develop the concept?" Excuse my harsh language, but are you kidding? No one could replace Sorkin on Studio 60. Sorkin has his own flair, evidenced in most everything he writes, from The West Wing to Studio 60 to Charlie Wilson's War. Without Aaron Sorkin, there would be no Studio 60, just a facade, a wall of actors with nothing to say or do.

Ha! Harsh language is excused! But I think you've misunderstood me. No one should touch Studio 60 again except Sorkin - he is new Mamet!

But I feel that the show would have been more successful it is was about the running of the entire network rather than one show at the network. Think of it as the difference between a show about the White House (West Wing - best show ever!) vs. a show about the legal counsel or press office at the White House.

And because Sorkin probably won't revisit this I'm hoping that someone can develop a show like that! Would I prefer Aaron to do it? You can bet on it!
