as the last few fans make quick decisions and hunt through fanpop to find the best content, other fans desperately add more content in hopes of being nominated. More well prepared fans all over fandom are busy planning speeches, practicing disappointed faces and hunting though profiles and the fashion spot for that perfect outfit and a fanpopable date. Whilst all this was going on i went to catch the real scoop on the fanpoppy awards just for you guys. My first interest was in the awards that have recieved the most hype and questions, the special awards; The Fanpop Four Award for Constructive Criticism,The Dave Lu Humanitarian Award and finally the Lifetime Achievement Award. Although I did not manage to find out what exactly the panel are planning to do, to make these awards so special i did find out what the panel are looking for in the candidates for these awards. "we're really looking for persuasive speeches from the nominators and like we've mentioned in the forums, it's really about quality over quantity. We also want the winners to be just as great after the awards. We're looking for the Fanpopper who offers help and support to the rest of the community and contributes and comments to help other fans, and does so without guile or an ulterior motive. It's also about standing up for other Fanpoppers and just being a nice person in general, to make Fanpop a nicer place to be, unlike SOME websites *cough* Youtube *cough*. " so if you really want the person you have nominated to win, you better work on that speech and stress why your favorite is a quality fan and for the lucky three that do win these special awards you'll have to keep it up, and a be a inspiration to all the fans out there! Now as the title says i promised some exclusive interviews and boy did i get some great behind the scenes info and gossip!
do you like being one of the fanpoppy panel, what pros and cons does this responsibility have? Loaded question... Pro: People have to be nice to me, I mean...j/k! It is a big responsibility,and at the end of the day, I know there will be hate and people will be angry with the results, like the Oscars (Damn Maris Tomei and her Oscar!) and by the way, it is pointless to send me hatemail, because I will just send it to the recycle bin in the sky. Con: If Bliss, Hooch, or myself win anything, everyone is going to think that it was rigged. do you think everything else will go smoothly on the day? It better...*menacing glare*. I mean, do you know how hard it is to get Fanpoppy invites out when you have no idea where to hold them (Dave said we couldn't use his place.)? who will be on secruity? well once you find a place that is... I'm thinking my personal army of cheese makers. Security, and food...*wanders off to look for cheese* erm.. okay. Is there any backstage gossip you can tell us? Cinders won't be getting camels in her dressing room. And there may a special guest dancing in hotpants. oo-er are there any more surprises instore for the excited fanpoppers? There won't be an open bar. We have to pay for this, dammit!
as the highest contributer on fanpop, what do you think makes the best content, and what will you be looking for when voting? I think that it`s so easy to just add anything and so many people do that and it drives me insane. I think as for links they have to be informative. it`s simple to just copy everything off google so I look for if the link matters and what I got out of it. On videos I am a tough critique because I post a lot of them. I like videos that make the 4 min. or however long the vid. lasted to be worth it. I just hate when people post for the sake of posting, it makes Fanpop boring. i am in love with images and it`s what I`m known for mainly posting on Fanpop. The image has to be high resolution in my book. I like images that stand out, colors, details etc. let`s just say the image has to be artistic because i feel like that`s what photography stands for. I am also a fan of people who create great spots. i have created over 100 spots on this site so that`s one of the reasons i feel so close to it. When I vote I will be looking at the quality of what people post not the quantity. now, you made a comment on one of the forums about certain people being competitive about fanpop, what advice would you give to these people? Would you consider me a real bitch if I named names. If this interview was for Star magazine it could get interesting. Some people on here just add to earn medals it`s so pathetic. I also realized certain users will earn the red medal in like a weeks time. It kills me how sad they are because all they want is to be recognized for something they truly didn`t earn. My advice to these people is "quit being so #%@#*!$ pathetic and GET A DAMN LIFE!" woa spam adders better beware! if you receive one of the many awards you have been nominated for, will you be giving a speech and if so who will you be thanking? If i won anything sure I`d give a speech. I would thank the Fanpop 4 of course because they are my friends. I would know nothing about the site if it weren`t for their help. finally are you looking forward to the event itself? why? the event sounds like fun and so many people are raving about it, it`s insane.
what award would you most like to win yourself? i would love to win best new fan, i have only been around for a few months and would love to know that i've done a lot in a short space of time now although you are a fairly new fan you have created a reputation of being one of the most dangerous fanpoppers in fandom, will there be any nuclear weapons or any plans to take eden hostage on the day? Of course, i'll just have to hide them which (other) fans will you be watching so there is no trouble? anyone small and blue as the creater of the fanpoppies, are they how you'd hoped they'd be and and are you pleased with amount of nominations that have come in? i'm actually amazed at how big it is and how well it's been going, that's mainly because of blisslikethis, who organized everything and believed it was big enough to have a whole spot of it's own, so i'd like to thank her
cinders, the debate spots which you have created has been nominated, so have many series of comments which you have been part of, and two of your soapboxes have been nominated. How do you feel about being part of so many nominations? Well I think it's great just to be nominated, especially for my soapboxes. I was really surprised when Eden picked my Fanpop Friends article to nominate and really happy about my chimpanzee article because that took me so long to write and I actually had to look at notes and things. The series of comments things, ah, those are just riots to participate in! The debate spot is great because of everyone there who makes it great. So I'm glad that its merits are being recognized, but there's a reason spot creators don't get these awards-- it's the folks who frequent these spots that make them awesome. Do you think you will win any awards? I think the debate spot has a good chance of winning. And I hope it does. As for the others, well, I may have good soapboxes but I know of a few others who are equally if not more deserving, so I don't know. And the series of comments, well... Those are just too much fun. If they win, then great, if not, well fine. But I'll continue to partake in them regardless. will you be wearing the dress that you have been wearing in your icon for the past month or something new to the big event? As you so graciously pointed out that I've been wearing an evening gown for the past month, I will probably wear that. And after that, I'm going shopping for tuxedos, wedding dresses and/or Rockette outfits (I'm thinking similar to Columbia in Rocky Horror) for my wedding to the wonderful and adorable and sexy blisslikethis. And after the ceremony, I expect to take her name and become Mrs. Cinders Likethis. speaking of the wedding, have you made any plans yet or has your fioncée, bliss been too busy with the fanpoppies? We decided to wait until after the Fanpoppies to plan the wedding, so yes, she's very busy. But I can wait. :o) any other comments or thoughts you'd like to share with us on the event? As lame as it is... Break a leg everybody! And I mean that in a good way... or DO I?
as the panelist that we have seen most of on the forum and updates, how are the panel's responsibilities shared between you, hooch and dazl? haha, well i think this whole idea got a lot bigger than any of us expected, and hooch didn't have a lot of time or energy to expend on it. so, i guess you could say i'm sort of the over-seer of the awards. hooch is still the final word on any major decisions (and yes, he is definitely invited to the awards ceremony lol), and dazl is in charge of writing most of the official soapboxes - such as listing the final nominees and announcing the winners Exactley what are the plans for the big day itself? the voting will take place the week leading up to the award ceremony, through private messages. once we've got all the votes, we'll announce the winners on the Fanpoppy Spot on the 23rd. we've still got some finessing to do for the awards ceremony, so it'll be a bit of a surprise :) will any celebrities like the fanpop four be popping up for the event? i hope so! i know dave is really stoked on the idea, so i'm sure he'll stop by. finally we've been talking to your fioncee, cinders who say you are holding off the wedding until the fanpoppies are over, has this caused any grief between the two of you or does she completley support your work? i like to think she's supportive, but she might be secretly peeved
As fanpop's most stalked and sought after guy were you planning on taking a date to the fanpoppies or are you going stag? My date to the fanpoppies is going to be my mom. I'm a total momma's boy, and she'll help deflect some of the stalkers with her instant "virgin son" powers. :p Will you be wearing your yellow cat hat to the awards?
I'll also wear my chewbacca backpack along with the Kyo-chan hat. =) I've heard you'll be throwing the crazy fanpoppy after party party is this true? An after-party party? Sounds fun. But can we make it a week after the after-party? I'll need that much time to recover. :p Finally you have been nominated many times in particular for your funny comments, do you have any final (funny) comments to say about the fanpoppies or to the fans? It's flattering to be considered funny, instead of funny looking. Now you've heard all the gossip and what's happening but be sure to keep up and get your updates on the most prestigious awards around. Get your outfit ready, your camera out and be sure to be here on the 23rd! at this stage anything could happen!
