so...it seems as so that people tend to compare twilight charaters to Host charaters. To be quite honest i really really don't like this. Sure they are both from the same author but I really don't think that, that should give us a lisence to correspond every single charater. I think this because i believe that Meyer wanted to make all of her charaters speaical and different for each other in every one of her books. Sure some of the charaters are going to have origins that grow from others but some people don't like charaters just because they correspond to some charaters in twilight. and to be honest i think that is the reason why people hate on some host charaters. What I really don't like is how people compare Edward to Ian. I think that Ian is way nicer than Edward. Some people also compare jared to Jake which i think is a little absurd. Or Jake and ian which to me makes not that much sense. Anyway the point of my rant is don't jugde a host charater just cause they are something like your least or hated twilight charater.

By the way I LOVE them both!!

Very True!!!
I completly agree with you. I don't like the Ian/Edward comparison, or the Jacob/Jared. I mean, I kind of see it, but on a very broad scale.
I also hate how when comparing Jared/Jacob, it's usally negative. I happen to love Jacob a LOT(haha, I can't stand negativity for him). And people shouldn't hate on Jared so much, I reread the book sooo many times and how would you feel if your girlfriend/person you love was taken from you by the enimes that have forced you to live in fear.
I would of been mad too- of course, I don't think I would of tried to kill her, but I haven't been put into that situtation.

Yes, it has kind of gotten on my nerves a bit how many people I have seen that do this comparison. I really can't see the resemblance between any of the The Host characters and the Twilight characters. What I see is similar personality traits that many REAL people have. Their are millions of people that can be labled as "nice" or "aggressive" or "clingy." Just because the 2 books are by the same author doesn't mean The Host characters are somehow supposed to be based off the Twilight characters.

I know there are probably many fans out there who mean no disrespect to Stephenie when they compare these characters and I am not talking to these people. Just the people who hate/dislike a certain Host character because they remind them of a Twilight character like Bandgeek_XP said.

When first reading the book I noticed that recognized a similarity in situation that reminded me of Twilight, but past that they're not really that much the same nor do I even think to compare them. I think the reason I only thought of it in the first place is that I had just recently re-read the Twilight series and had it heavy on my mind. I'm just really excited that Stephenie Meyer is successful at breaking away from a fate of being known as 'the author' of 'that book series' because she really is a great writer.

When I read the Host I wasn't even thinking about Twilight. It's a completely different book, with completely different characters. I totally agree with you. It doesn't really make sense to compare the characters from the two books.

I think probably what makes the characters so different is the fact that Edward is a vampire and Ian/Jared are so obviously human. People probably don't take that into account and they really should. The Host is about the good and bad in humans and it isn't fair to compare Ian and especially Jared to Edward because they have more faults and instabilities and in other words are only human.

Come to think of it that's why I don't like people hating Jacob - he's young, he's a little immature, that's ok because he's only human, we're all like that sometimes. I still love him. I still love Jared and Ian. I still love Edward. I'm one big bundle of love for all of SM's characters.

zoomonkees I totally agree I'm so glad she can break away from Twilight and still write a fantastic book. It shows she is actually a great writer - it wasn't a fluke and I can't wait for more!!
