She loves them both. She loves gale initially because he was like the only other person she could connect with. They watched each others backs when they were hunting, they bonded, the could rely on each other. they knew eachother so well its was like her first love and even though it never really said straight out, you know the she loves him. But with peeta, even though she thought the whole thing was for show, she has gone through something so traumatic and strong, and life changing with him. when she moes back gale will be in another place completely. he is so "far" from the hunger games, it didn't happen to him it was not his reality. It made her grow up so much more than she already was. she saw life and death and more love and killing of innocence first hand and you can't come back from that and through it all there was peeta. unfailingly in love with her even if she didn't know until the end. He protected her and she protected him, risked her life even in doing so and not that she wouldn't do that for gale, it's just she DID do that for peeta. They have a bond that goes deeper, stronger, out of experience together that gale couldn't ever grasp fully. In the end I don't think its a matter of who she loves, she loves both, there is so many types of love, stages, maturities, some are knock you off your feet kind of love, some are friends for life, and some are the kind that are so subtle that you don't realize it until you are sitting alone realizing you miss one person so much it just knocks you over the head, it sneaks up on you like where-the-EFF-did-that-come-from kind of love. She is going to be torn in two.

I agree. Peeta and Katniss had the bread incident when she was little. And She met Gale i think after that happened, Im not sure. And she said it herself
"There has been nothing romantce between me and Gale."
So its not completely obvious, but u have to infer sometimes, but she loves both. So it might be a tough decision for her.

The way I see it, she does not love Peeta. I think she wants to, in some twisted way, but she isn't capable of it. Despite that, I don't think Gale will ever be able to fully understand her because he has not lived her experiences like Peeta has. So, to sum it up, she's basically screwed. Because of the Capitol she's obviously going to be forced into playing the lovesick role, but I'm pretty sure her conscious is going to point her towards Gale.

I think that she will end up loving Peeta! Peeta was the one who was by her said through all of the hunger games and he was her ally and obviously her lover through the whole thing! although i have nothing against gale because all I know about his is that she knew him for a long time and hes her best friend and they're like brother and sister. Although it is obvious that she loves gale but she obviously loves Peeta too or else she would have just killed him to be the victor instead of risking her own life just to be with him! And even though she felt she didn't know who to choose she really loves Peeta and Peeta no doubt loves her while for all we know Gale might just see her as a little sister. She loves both just in different ways and i hope she chooses Peeta!

i think she honestly likes gale but she doesnt know it yet . also with peeta she is putting it on for te camera but there is also a part of her that is also fallen for peeta to .

To tell you the truth I don't really know, but i think she is starting to see Gale as more than a friend yet she still hasn't discovered if she likes Peeta because of the way she describes the kiss and she did call out his name. think about that.

First she loves both. The fact is though that Peeta is to angry with her to love her back at the moment and Gale doesn't think of her that way. Another thing please please please stop making twilight refrences. It was a good book but not the best thing out there so please widen ur metaphorical book horizons.

I say Katniss loves both of them. Although I hate to admit it, I think that she will choose Peeta because she has gone through alot with him. But, that does not stop me from wishing that she will choose Gale in the end and it does not stop me from hating Peeta (i think that he's too soft).

Hmm, you make a good point. Katniss kinda confused me through out the book. I wasn't sure from the way she acted at the end if she actually ever loved Peeta.Gale, she loves like a brother, but they talk about him in the book, but we never got to really meet Gale like Katniss and Peeta. I think she loves Gale more.

It could go either way. Personally I think Gale, because Peeta annoys me. (he seems so.... so helpless, not physically so much as emotionally) And I really like Gale, because 1. he's totally the sort of boy I could fall in love with, and 2. I like complex characters and he certainly is one (so angry!) so for now it's a matter of opinion.

I have nooo freggin' idea!! LOL. I guess that's just a part of the book to make it more suspenseful and for more people to love it!!

WELL! I think she wants to love gale, because she has known him for so long it seems right, but shes also confused about how easy it was to "fake" the love between her and peeta during the whole game. I wanna know whats going to happen int he next two books, because the games over isnt it? what else can be resolved? maybe shell pick a love, but either way, i hope petta. he seems more right.

PEETA DUH!!!! wait thats me... i think she likes gale as brother and peeta as a ally because she went through a lot with peeta but she has known gale since she was 12 so... yea well i kinda ran out of things to say but the answer up there is soooo long i need to at least make this answer a little bit longer... so im gonna write random stuff... i think that we would have to wait until the next book. i know its a LONG time (all summer is long) but before i would make a choice i would have to see gale's reaction to first Katniss winning and the fact that she AND Peeta won plus i would have to consider Gale's reaction to Katniss saving Peeta and to see if Gale will profess his love to her if there is any...so idk i hate making predictions but i know we will all find out in a matter of months.

Personally i think that in the end she will end up with Gale because when he was saying goodbye to her he was about to say something to her before they were interupted..i think that whatever he was about to say could have changed their relationship. i also think that Peeta is annoying.

honestly, katniss loves both. it seems like a twilight story also, and i really think she will choose peeta. she loves gale, and everyone knows that. but peeta, there is something there. she loves him too. and it really seems like she loves him alot! i think she will choose peeta. when i read catching fire, i automatically thought she will choose peeta. gale is her best friend, and that will always be there. she loves him, but as a friend. when she "chose gale" when he got whipped, i think she was doing that out of pity. i LOVE gale, dont get me wrong. but i just really think she will choose peeta. they have been through so much, and peeta has always been there. i cant wait until march and getting the last book. but im team peeta, and i do think she will choose him. she loves gale, but not enough. and shes IN love with peeta, she just doesnt know it yet. and since she and peeta have been seperated at the end of catching fire, she will realize she loves him more than a friend. thats my opinion(:

katniss loves peeta becaues what happen in the hunger games she acts like she likes gale but she raelly loves peeta.

I think she loves both but in the end i think she will choose peeta because he gave her bread when her family was starving to death. Also how comftorable she is with him and how she sleeps with him all of the time.And how peeta got tooken away from her she will soon realize that she misses peeta and she will realize that she wants peeta for more than a friend.

Katniss loves both Gale and Peeta but her love for both of them is different. In the Hunger Games, Katniss is sure she loves Gale but as an older brother. But then her little sister gets chosen at the reaping so she takes her place. So now she and the other District 12 boy tribute are going to fight in the Hunger Games. Little does she know, the male tribute from Katniss's district, Peeta, is in love with her. In the arena, after Ceaser Flickerman says both tributes can work together,Katniss calls out Peeta's name showing that she does care for him. but in Catching Fire, aftrer Gale got whipped, Katniss kisses Gale and choses him as her lover. Even though she loves Gale now and has chosen him she still has a love for Peeta. But this love is different. It is like the brotherly love she felt for Gale in the Hunger Games. It is so strong it is like how Katniss risked her life for Prim(rose)at the reaping. So far Katniss loves Gale and Peeta but has a different type of love for both of them. But we will never konw who she ends up loving untill the end of the series.
