Did the Disney studio steal Kimba The White Lion and rework it as their 'original story', The Lion King? They certainly give that impression with their corporate stance ('we never heard of Tezuka nor Kimba until after The Lion King was released'). And why would they have filed suit to try to prevent the showing of Tezuka Productions' 1997 Jungle Emperor Leo movie at the 1998 Toronto FantAsia Film Festival? (Jungle Emperor was the original title for Kimba The White Lion.) It seems quite simple; Kimba had been kept out of sight in North America for 20 years by that time.

I'm sure you've heard how every character in The Lion King has a matching character in Kimba, all the way down to the level of both having a sage mandrill mis-identified as a baboon.

The sun was shining, the savannah was buzzing with the talk of a new cub. Its name was Kopa, and it was Simba and Nala’s first cub. The cub was a male, and he was very healthy. Simba and Nala were very happy. Nala called him “her little angel”, and Simba smiled and said “you will be king one day.”

The next day was a hot, sunny day in the pride lands. All the animals gathered around pride rock for the dedication of little Kopa. Rafiki smiled, as he blessed the young cub. Kopa looked up, and smiled, just as his father had so many years ago. Rafiki held up the small lion, and said proudly, “it is time”, as he showed all of the pride lands the soon to be king.

A few weeks later, Kopa was talking, and acting like any normal cub of his age. Simba was proud, but also very protective, because of what he went through as a cub. The whole pride was very happy, especially Nala, who would almost never let him out of her site. Yes, they were happy, but the happiness would not last.

Princess Kairia, was engrossed as she listened to her grandfather the former king Simba, as he told her a story of one of the adventures he had with her grandmother when he was a cub. "There Grandma and I were cornered by the hyenas they were moving in for the kill. I did the only thing I could think of, I roared at them." Kairia looked at her grandfather impressed and asked him "Wow Grandpa did that scare them off?" Simba laughed heartily at his granddaughter and said "No, dear one I'm afraid it didn't." Kairia asked confused "But Grandpa if it didn't work then how did you and grandma get away?" Simba laid down next to Kairia and replied "Well, after my roar didn't scare them off I truly thought me and grandma were done for then my father came to our rescue. It was very scary but also exciting, Dad made those hyenas run to the ends of the earth" Kairia laughed and said "Grandpa that was a great story, can you tell me another one?" Just as Simba was getting ready to tell his granddaughter another story Kiara his daughter and reigning queen of the pride lands found them sitting on the summit of Pride Rock, "Kairia,Father there you two are, I've been looking every where for you both,...
