After three months of pondering and procrastinating about whether to continue his NHL career or retire, Avalanche captain Joe Sakic finally had an answer late Tuesday afternoon for his agent, Don Baizley.
"I am happy to announce the signing of Joe Sakic to a one-year contract," said Avalanche Executive Vice President and General Manager Francois Giguere.
Patience paid off for the Colorado Avalanche, who signed Joe Sakic to a one-year, $6 million contract Wednesday after he decided to play a 20th season in the NHL rather than call it a career.
