Last week I decided to find my DVD Box of The O.C. season 2...I hadn't watched The O.C. since it stopped!
As I started watching I slowly remembered why I totally adored this series and why no other series (in my opinion) will ever get the same right mix of humor and drama and everyday problems.
Personally I watch a lot of different series, from 24 to Desperate Housewives to CSI (Miami, Las Vegas AND New York!) to Gossip Girl and everything inbetween. I am very aware of the fact that I am addicted to watching series...but yet I have figured out that not one of these series has given me the same satifaction as The O.C. once did. I am ofcourse referring to the first two seasons, later on I found that the drama took the upperhand and somehow it became too unrealistic.
What I most enjoyed about watching The O.C. is that not only one age category carries the series, as happens in series such as Gossip Girl (teenagers) and Desperate Housewives (adults), there is a good balance between the problems of being young, being married and being rich or poor.
Eventhough I am as European as Europeans can get and I am certainly not as wealthy as the main characters in The O.C. I could still relate to the way of life in Newport, including the fun and the sad times.
Unfortunatly for the series, Marissa died...after that point in time I am sure a lot of fans stopped watching or at least enjoyed it less. One question that will always bother me is how did Taylor change from the nerd she was to Ryan's girlfriend, like overnight???
Another question which I wondered about while watching the DVDs is one that only time can answer. Is The O.C. timeless?? Will teeangers all over the world still watch it in let's say 5 years, or even 10?? I assume they will...almost every problem or dilemma anyone could run into in life is covered. From divorces to marriages, from new relationships to breaking up, from trying drugs to going to your high school dance. I believe that because of this The O.C. will always be popular with a certain age group...if only it would still be aired on television!!

The OC was definitely something special and i hope it will be timeless. The first 2 seasons still amaze me and i know that i'll probably never find something that unique and wonderful.

UMM about the taylor thing, um why can`t a "nerd" be ryan`s girlfriend? plus taylor is only nerdy at heart & she was still, i LOVE her! how did marissa turn from straight a student to crackhead in a month? hmmm . its a drama, things change fast!
