Sims3 is gonna be way better than sims2!! Graphics are much better, there are new clothes, new places to go, new abilities to discover... I can't wait to buy it!

I bought Sims3 the day it came out and had already cleared out all my old Sims2 games. Well all the Sims2 games are back in and Sims3 sits on the shelf. I was very, very disappointed. They look like cartoon characters, and the game is very hard to navigate. Guess I am stuck with it now:(

This may just be because I'm used to sims 2... but I think sims 2 is better... I got sims 3 today... and the creation of the character is slightly better (body wise, apart from the fact that you can't change breast size, you have to be obese to have even a C cup ¬_¬) but there isn't a wide range of clothes, sure you can change the colour, but when it comes to styles there isn't that much... same with hair style... oh and you can't create you own neighbourhood... you can edit the original one, but can't make your own

I'm sure once I've grown on the game I will consider it to be better... but if you do have the sims 2 I woudln't recommend selling it just in case you don't like the sims 3 like I didn't

The Sims 3 is without doubt better than in Sims in terms of graphics. It also allows one to customize almost anything you could imagine. The removal of the loads screen also means that you don't spend most of your time looking at them same house. The Sims 3 also allows you to make truely unique and interesting characters which you quickly become attatched to.
However The Sims 3 lacks so many features that made The Sims 2 so unique and worthwhile. For example one cannot now create a new neighbourhood. Also it feels like going back to the original Sims as you cannot place lots where ever you please. Also you cannot go into community buildings just simply look at it whilst your sim uses it. By far the biggest feature however is the lack of custom content. One cannot make any currently. Hairstyles and clothing choice are also painfully limmited.
Given the Choice I would choose the Sims 2 over The Sims 3. I do however eagerly look forward to expansion packs that EA will release. Prehaps all theese failures will be addressed in future expansions.

Hi, I was shadowing these Q and As for a minute I finally decided to say something.

The sims 3, which was not everything it could be, was a leap forward for the sims games. It had to be done, or by the next generation of games the sims would become worthless.

Now as far as game play. The sims 3 is not slow moving, as long as you meet/exceed the system requirements. If you do not, or you meet the bare minimum, then the game will be VERY slow. This is due to the fact that it is continuously loading in the background, it does this to make the in game illusion of a real-time town.

As far as custom content. You CAN make custom content. You do this in the CAS feature. Simply select the item you which to change, and then click on the little paint brush icon in CAS (Should be in the lower area of the tabs panel). Now you can make this item recolored for just one sim, or you can choose to save it and have it become available to all newly created sims.

Graphics. While I will maintain that the graphics on the sims 3 are cartoonish, I do believe that is was both intentional, and also an improvement.

Game developers (and scientists) have this term called "the uncanny valley". The idea is that when a robot, or AI becomes too similar in looks and in actions to humans, that as humans we reject this idea on a subconcious level.

Basically, if we look at something we percieve to be too human (without actually being human) we don't like it, it's creepy. Obviously not everyone will think this, but its enough of a concern that I think EA/Maxis will never go fully human looking with their future sims creations.

On a personal note. I liked the diversity of creation that was allowed on the sims 2 vs. the sims 3. BUT people are just now coming out with hacks, and custom content to add to the sims 3 and make it work the way you want it to. So give it time, I bet in a few months they will have created so many options for game play it would make our heads spin.

Sadley I have to say Sims 2. The sims 3 is good, better graffics and personality traits but to me it kinda feels like they dont need you anymore. It was fustrating at the start and i wont recomend it to any one. SIMS 3 WAS GOOD BUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BETTER. BIG LET DOWN :(

Well i got sims 3 the day it came out! Installed it played it was amazed. but i just found this question searching up is sims 2 better than sims 3 because i just took it out of my computer and started playing sims 2 again. WAY TO MANY GLITCHES I have been playing sims 3 all day and it has shut down my computer 10 times today at least. Very dissapointed on the graphics. :(

I LOVE Sims 3! I think you Sims 2 people just need to give it some time. I love the personality feature and walking around town. I never ACTUALLY played Sims 2, but I've watched my friends, and Sims 3 rocks! I also love that the town is completly customizable! I have tons of my friends living in my town, and it's cool because I don't have to take care of all of them, but I can watch them fulfill their dreams. I think the Sims 3 is awsome, and it is NOT slow (those who say it's slow, just have older computers). The only downfall is the price though :/

I really disliked the Sims 3. I only played on it for a short period of time as I couldn't grasp the concept of it. The features are far too confusing and the graphics are nothing compared to the Sims 2.
Some things I did like however are the different voice changers and the different traits you could have for individual characters. The people look quite scary, to be fair, unlike those of the Sims 2. I also rebooted my computer before installing and still it was very slow after having all of my memory free.
I bought it 2 days ago and already I am returning it after spending most of my money on it. It was very dissapointing.

well i most definately think that the sims 2 is better than the sims 3! I was so excited to get the sims 3 game but when i finally got the money to buy it it wouldnt even work on my lap top so i put in on the desktop and it worked but it is so incredibly slow that its not even worth trying to play! on top of that it freezes....the graphics r really good and i like the fact that u can customize almost everything and make it your own I also like the fact you can go downtown and go to your neighbors house but in the sims 2 u can actually view the inside of the building and actually see what your person is doing but in the sims 3 you cant! I think i would rather stick with the sims 2! maybe when i take my sims 3 game back i will go buy another expansion pack for my sims 2 game!! I just dont see the point in keeping the game when it takes me one whole hour just to get my girl to sit on a couch or get a job or leave a building! im a huge sim game fan and it takes a lot for me to say that it was a total let down! =(

Definitely!!! The sims 3 is better. The Sims 2 have more extentions but I think they make the same with the sims 3. You just have to be patience and give the sims 3 some time to understand the game. When you start to understand the game you'll see!!!

I might be alone on this, but to me, I got the game, played it for a few days, and now I don't even play it anymore. Although the graphics are a lot better, there really wasn't that much of a significant change between Sims 2 and Sims 3. Luckily, I didn't buy the game, I downloaded it. And I'm glad I didn't buy it either, or I would have wasted 50 bucks. I ended up uninstalling it feeling unsatisfied. I'm not saying it's a bad game, just that there wasn't a big enough change from Sims 2 to Sims 3, and I just got bored with it pretty fast.

I am a huge fam of the sims and was extremely excited for the sims 3 as I was for the sims 2. What a huge disapointment! I love the idea that the characters can have their own personality but they look like cartoons. Sims 2 was way more realistic. I thought that was a high point in the sims. The fact that it should be realistic. I also love the neighborhood thing. Its great! The only downfall is once I have a family and they are all grown up, I cant movee them out and play them. It is completely rediculous and so not fun. You cant edit anything and you cant have two families in one neighborhood. Terrible, terrible idea.They need to make this game realistic and keep the entire idea of sims 2 for this to keep selling. Of corse I was also one of the fans who have bought itthe first day it came out and I havent played it more then 6 times since. :( completely dissapointing! WOW.....This question is so easy to answer. This Sims 2 really is easy er and although it might take a bit nothing can top it.
I could not wait for Sims 3 to come out especially when it did not come out in Feb. like it was sipost to. On June 2 i had all my money saved and i went to buy Sims 3 after school. As soon is i downloaded it and started playing i was VERY upset. Every 10 Sec. or so it freezes even worse then Sims 2 and i am so confused. It is hard to play with the defects and confusing set up. Sims 3 has better graphics and loads faster but still freezes when you really want to play. I spent all my money on a piece of junk that is already 10 dollars less in target. Not to mention that there is barely any furniture or themes. I hope the company still sell Sims 2 and makes some new ones. Maybe even update it so it is basically the same but with better graphics. I really LOVE Sims 2 and would never expect Sims 3 to be so Terrible. All the fuss they made about it was for nothing and i am very disappointed in the company.

If you take a moment and think, TS2 started the same way.. with left foot.. so lets give EA and moding cumunities some time to do theyr job :)

i guess i like the sims 2 better as in the sims 3 they have missed things out like getting abducted by aliens, which i really luved and now they've not put it in! Sims 3 has way 2 high standards 4 computers, they shud lower it, as we ending up buying a new computer, laptop to run with it aswell as buying the sims 3 game. I've been playing the Sims for nearly a decade from the first Sims to Sims 2 and now Sims 3. Sims 3 has GREAT features, but I still like Sims 2 WAY better, only becuz my Sims can get in and out of the car when going somewhere, they're not just magically appearing in the car and the graphics are WAY better in 2. Hopefully, there will be some serious updates on this game, becuz I was really looking forward to the release only to be a little disappointed.

sims3 does seem better but there were some things on the sims2 that could have been added to the new game. like having your young adult sim go college by their own choice!! to you that my not seem all that cracked up to be but it's still cool.
though both games have good features that could have been brought together to have a more realistic expierence. there's only problem i see with the sims3, there's no BODY SHOP TOOL. thats why its problem u cant do much with it and why more people arent coming up with alot more custom content. now with the sims2, i had a few problems. 1st correct me if im wrong for i only have 2 expansion packs of the sims2 that i can only play a young adult on the university and have to work which sucks. 2nd when i want my sim to go somewhere i have to see that blasted load up screen. 3rd the game was slow. last it became really difficult to download custom content and i'm scrabbling around the internet trying to find something to help me with it. though i did come across a clean installer and it did work when it came to installing sims and lots. other then that it was a good game especially when it comes to the characters. some of u are right they do look like cartoons on the sims3 while on the sims2 the charcters that other people made, they look more realistic.
now u are all saying that the sims3 runs slow. im sorry but i must disagree for it really doesnt. but it was a bit slow in the beginning but i learned something, they have UPDATES. that come on regular basis just when u open the sims3 launcher but if u do get updates then the possibilities is u have to much things downloaded on your pc whether its only for the sims2,3 any other things or your pc isn't capable to hold the game. if its not that then i don't see any other problem, it should be running smoothly.
now the question that stands, is the sims2 better or 3? to u the sims2 is better because it been out the longest so we've gotten used to it and many people created alot more custom content and has more expansions. the sims3 just came out so we dont have as much as we wanted like on the sims2. i say we best be patient for more to be added to it and please just try your best on the new game and dont judge it as quickly for its really for creativity then anything else.

Me I really like the sims3 the reason you can't change anything is the reason that this game takes place 25 years before sims 2 takes place before the sims 1 it's before old town it's the only town the sims had at the it's way better then sims 2 you don't have to go to the sims 2 resource for the same clothes with diffrent colors that takes up pc space

I totally agree with the majority of people on here. I rushed to the store the week after it came out, to find that it was a whopping 50 bucks, where I could buy the Sims 2 expansion packs for 20 something rather. But I brushed it off as the game being new. Besides if it was as good as the hype it was going to be worth it right? WRONG, soooo wrong. I installed the game and started playing it and was left going, "Are you serious?" I was very upset. For one, every sim looks the same when you make them. Especially the women. I have yet to make an attractive female character on the game, the body type for the female sim is awful too, she either looks to big or too thin, not to mention manly. The children on the game not only look the same but they have this weird hook nose going on that I am not digging. I hated the fact that I couldn't see my sim go to the store or book store, or out to dinner even. Things that were very possible by the Sims 2. Also, I can't create a new town or lot, which is very annoying to me. I also hate the aging feature. I thought I would love it, but it really just becomes a hastle if you have more than one sim living in the town. And they got rid of some of the main objectives the made the Sims 2 great. Like unlimited ways to make your sim creative, a good cook, logical. I mean they took away some of the best features to the game, for what I don't know. Yes, 3 does run faster, but consider that it doesn't have the same greatness that two had. And the aspirations piss me off. For starters when you get aspiration points you really don't want to spend them because the reasons are lame, in 2 you could get objects that would prove valuable or entertaining, now you just get some lame feature like being attractive, or able to throw a good party, which you do everytime you throw one.
I really, REALLY want to give this game a chance, but there is just so much about it that irks me. I really am thinking about uninstalling it and being done with it, re-installing all of the Sims 2 expansion packs. Hopefully when the new expansion for Sims 3 comes out it will change my mind and I won't feel like I have gotten the bad end of the deal. That's my two cents. Spend it wisely.

I havent bought the game but just looking at the advertisements, The website, and just looking at the game at the store. Didnt appeal to me very much, didnt appeal to me more than the sims 2. When I first saw the sims 2 advertisements I was very excited it looked real, it looked fun, and I was very worked up...I liked it very much and I got so into collecting all the diffrent games, to make that one game better and better, because without one game with the other it just isnt the same.But to me the Sims 3 doesnt even look real, characters look very fake, not as realistic as the Sims 2 characters, and they say you can customize a lot but I doubt it. It looks like it will slow down your computer it is very virtual to the extreme.It doesnt even look very fun because its just to much to it. I say so far because my hope is future expansion packs, like with Sims2, will improve on the game. While I've gotten used to expansion pack features, I don't understand why they got rid of base game features like a buyable hot tub, a variety of build objects or custom neighborhoods. I also feel it limits your play time watching the front of a building versus the ability to interact with other sims out in the neighborhood...you can go into one, why not all? Why change the automobile animation? But, I think what disappoints me most is the "nickel and diming" EA is doing with add-ons. Before you could purchase a stuff pack with objects, furniture, clothes, walls and floors for about $20.00. Now you only get about 50 items for $20.00. Big issue to contend with...

With Sims 3 the player really lose control of the game, for example aging or even seeing them go into a store. Plus the Sims look like cartoons characters.

Sim 2 is so much better you have much more control of your sims with the cheats, Sim 2 have the best expansions packs to name a few like Nightlife, Seasons, Pets, Open For Business, and University and good stuff packs as well, along with characters like vampires, aliens, werewolfs and plantsims, and more.

I just do not see fans taking all their expansions EPs of Sim 2 and just put them in a box and say good bye, that would be too much money wasted. I do not think Sims 3 will ever be as good as Sims 2 maybe in the next life but not this one. lol

I have friends that are crying their heart out because they have the Sim 3 and wasted their money. I say play Sims 3 at your own risk and just wait for your PC or Mac to crash, There is an old saying if it is not broke do not fix it. I will not try to keep up with the Jones just because Sim 3 is new sometime new do not mean better, I will continue to play Sim 2.

as far as the graphics go.. they didn't impress me as much. I was very disapointed with the hange in the look of the sims themselves. the sims 2 sims were fun!! their character and actions were a hoot!! these ones looked like cut out dolls or sumthing.

I thank maxis for their continuation of the sims franchise and trying tomake things bigger and better.. but, I would have just liked 2 see more sims 2 exps, especially one that makes all things completely customizable like the sims 3. plus the new character attributes.

I have both games. Ive had sims2 for roughly 2 years. I ve had sims3 for a day. I have to say i much prefer sims2 at the moment but that could just be first impressions. Sims 2 was so easy to get used too but sims 3 has me puzzling. Obviously better graphics and the sims look more realistic but the display, the interior designs, the clothes, the house are pretty poor. I found on sims 3 I take 20 mins to make a sim and on sims2 i take 2 or 3. I guess im still getting used to it but i always got by my gut instinct. This is just my opinion, remember.

My opinion is that make a sim is awesome but thE game altogether is hard to get into.Dont worry though, as you get into it, it gets more fun and you understand it better. Seriously, play it for a couple of hours and you'll learn that it is MUCH MUCH MUCH better tha sims 2. Quality, the fact that you cant move around, etc. My opinion would be that its more advanced than no 2. Overall, if you want something more advanced and you dont mind waiting to get used to it, buy it !, otherwise, stick to sims 2.

Well I loved the sims 3....until i actually got it! it loaded pretty good but right when i clicked 'Creat a Sim' MY COMPUTER RESTARTED ITSELF!

I went on requirementslab.com and it told me that my graphics and speed suck now i have to
go out and buy some crap for 50-100 dollars just to run the GAME!!!

However the sims 2 when i ran a check on my pc at requirementslab.com it said that everything was PERFECT AND FAST So I will go out and buy Sims 2

dont get me wrong i love the sims3 but i miss the being able to play anyone in the neighborhood and the families not moving on without you. so technically you can only truly follow one family per town ( if you get another town/make another town) and i miss pets and vampires and i really think open for business should come back. i even miss the hollywood one from sims original. so yeah.
