I definately wavered over the course of the show, especially in the diectionless season 5, but I really thought the show was back on form (and in some ways, better) by the end.
Well, it took me 1/2 a season after to leave but it was definitely correlated. On the other hand, now that it's been a few years, I'd be interested in watching the seasons and storylines that I missed.
It's worth watching, definately. Great closure, and the last season's pretty satisfying (if not as snappy). Especially if you were any kind of Josh and Donna (or CJ and Danny) fan.
I was a BIG CJ and Danny fan. Didn't they get married or something in the last season? If so, I definitely will have to pick up a copy of the concluding season.
I agree, it kind of wavered around seasons 4 and 5 - but it is SO worth picking up again. In particular the sixth season has some very sad and emotionally charged scenes with Leo - particularly tragic given the circumstances of the actor, John Spencer's death during the filming of the final season. Whilst Sorkin was clearly a superb, gifted, genius writer, the characters and cast - and lagely excellent writing in the final seasons - make it compulsory viewing for West Wing fans. I cant imagine not having watched and absorbed every last second. And the final season is terrific - the relationship beteen Donna and Josh is beautifully played out - it drove me to tears. And John Spencer's death leaves a permanent poignant mark on the final episodes.
If only they'd make 'West Wing: The Movie!'
