Michael Bay - good or bad choice for Transformers?

michael posted on Jul 04, 2006 at 09:10PM
So, do you think Michael Bay will go a good job with the Transformers? I have no doubt that with Bay at the helm, the movie will be spectacular, but will it be good? It does seem like the Transformers fit in with what Bay likes to do - major destruction and car chases.

In my opinion, good choice. Look at his track record, were any the these films not good?

The Island, Bad Boys I and II, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, The Rock.

Assuming that the CG looks good, I think Transformer should do quite well.

I don't know that I'd include "Pearl Harbor" or "Armageddon" as examples of good film, but the rest were solid action films. But I do get tired of Michael Bay's visual style (too much handheld, man!), and the trailer makes me think that they're making the film into another "alien invasion" picture.

Also, what business does Bernie Mac have in a Transformers story? Why are there so many human characters? I really don't want the story told from the point of view of a human.

Maybe Spielberg and Bay should have started by making "Go-bots: the movie" first.
