bill has known sookie 4 a longer time than eric has known her. Sookie has gave her virgnity 2 bill. Bill was there when sookie's gran died and was there to "comfort" her ( in both ways). Bill Knows more about Sookie. Eric was willing 2 give up sookie 4 Godric. Bill went out in the sun to save her.(he would do it twice). Even though sookie has eric's blood she has bill's 2. bill loves sookie so much when sookie resent bill's invite he was crushed and still went to save from Renee in the sun. Eric held sookie's friend laffte captive for weeks. Sookie slaped eric and said something like " u should be ashmed of youre self" and looked the same then when she said ill call the cops that's when he pulled out his fangs.Eric dosent really love her but bill does and sookie loves bill.
knowing someone for a longer time is def. not a reaason to be with them.... is she really only going to sleep w/ one person for her entire life?.... he has to be loyal to godric and no one ever asked him to choose b/t the two.... im pretty sure eric would go into the sun for sookie considering he has takin bullets for her and he was willig to sacrifice his life for her saftey at the followship.... in the books the whole layfette thing never happened b/c layfette died... eric is going to love her they havent givin him time yet in the show
i suggest reading the books they are so good and its impossible to not love eric after reading them.
I must agree when I first started watching the show I felt the same way as you. I thought that these two characters have a great relationship. Yes it is tumultuous and dangerous at times, but it is still very loving. After watching the series several times, I just became a fan a few months ago, I decided that it was time to read the books. I mean hey they are a great way to get spoilers, I have very little patience. So I have read the first four books now and can absolutely say I think that Eric is the better man for our Sookie. That is, as long as the keep to some of the key plot points. While all the things that you have said are true about the relationship between Bill and Sookie there is much to come. Things I want to say, but feel that it is wrong to because it will spoil the up coming seasons for people. I will just say this, Bills intentions are not as they seem. Bill is not always the loving man that is in complete control of himself. Now as for Eric, once again there are things I won’t talk about because I don’t want to spoil things for people. I think we got to see the true Eric when we saw the two of them in bed in Sookies Dream. Eric is who he is. He is not pretending to be something that is completely against his nature. He does not make apologies or hide the fact that his is a vampire and that it is his nature to be cruel and kill at times. Bill is pretending to be something that he isn’t, Human. Once again those of you who have read the books know the things that have happened between both of these couples. I think that Eric truly leans to care for if not Love Sookie. While Bill has other reasons and motives for everything that he does. If you look at what Bill says to Sookie in the latest episode, He will be more attractive to you now that you have had his blood, Sexually appealing (paraphrasing). Wouldn’t that work for him as well. She has had a lot of Bills blood. How do we know that it isn’t that blood that is keeping her with Bill. I think that Sookie deserves to be with someone is true to themselves and others. And to me that is Eric. There is no ifs ands or buts about it, he is a vampire and that is all he is.
They are from the books. If you read the series you will know what is going to happen. Like I knew about Godric when they showed him. I knew what mariann was. Some of the things have changed but the overall story is the same. They are quick reads.
Eric is MUCH, MUCH different than Bill so comparing them in terms of what they do for her is irrelevant. Eric may not seem like the perfect guy for her at the moment but where he and Bill differ is the fact that once you get passed his distant 'smoke screen' personality (which is a product of living as long as he has) he's 100% more GENUINE in everything he says and does. He's not going to pretend to be nice when he isn't, and he's not going to pretend to be human when he's not, but in the same respect he IS very generous, loyal, sincere, and thoughtful to the person/vamps closest to him.
Bill however, is a much DARKER character than what we are lead to believe while he's with Sookie. For example: in 1x03 look at the vamps he was with (malcolm's crew) before Sookie barged in, and look what he did about two episodes back with Lorena and that poor couple they terrorized. There is alot more to this but I can't elaborate any further without delving into "spoiler territory.
And Tink, glad I'm not the only one who was thinking that when Bill brought up what the side effects of drinking his blood were. I was surprised Sookie didn't call him out on that since he neglected to add that part when she first asked last season.
OMG I totally was wondering why Sookie didn't jump down Bill's throat when he told her about the whole 'blood-drinking-side-effects' were.
But apart from that, I think most of monluvparamore's points are kinda invalid. Yes, Eric acts like an asshole more than Bill (please don't correct my language, if you're watching True Blood, you have heard worse) but he is so much more interesting, attractive and intriguing. All through season 1, although I loved the show, I found the romance aspect of it to be completely boring and inane. However, Sookie and Eric? Definite chemistry!
Just trust us that there are places that the show will be going that will bring Bill and Eric into new lights. Might I say graveled driveway, 50,000 dollars, and a new red coat. Even in the first book Eric was more caring towards Sookie than Bill in a playful way. When she was in the hospital after Renee attacked her Eric sent her flowers and flew by her hospital window to check on her. I really suggest you read the books to see where many of us are coming from.
She already mentioned her driveway to him which I (hopefully) have a feeling she's gonna return home to find it already done for her. If its not, than i'm gonna have to fly to LA to slap Alan Ball for planting that nugget and not following through.....lol!
I just finished reading the books and I am really wondering how well the show will follow them concerning Eric and Bill. I almost didn't watch the show after the first episode because he is so boring, it was the supporting cast that drew me back in. After reading the books I def. think Sookie should be with Eric. Everytime she was with someone else I would wish she would hurry up and figure that out. I do have to say that one of the lines at the end of the ninth book had me worried, the one about which vampire Niall meant, I am hoping that isn't a cheap way back into the world of the dreadfully boring relationship with Bill.
