Bella and Edward: Valentine's Day

It was a beautiful morning. Simply beautiful. Renesmee was sleeping quietly in her room, while Edward and I sat on the couch in the front room. His arm wrapped around me and I leaned into his chest. Today seemed so perfect. I wonder why? I had a feeling something good was going to happen today. I must have accidentally released my shield because Edward answered my unspoken thought. "You don't know what day it is?" he said. "No, did I miss something?" "Today is Valentine's Day, love." That threw me for a millisecond. Huh. I counted back the days in my head. I guess today is the fourteenth of February. "Oh. I completely forgot. I had no idea..." He chuckled. "Well, what you like to do today?" "Hmm. I don't know." "Good. I sort of planned the whole day for us anyway." He chuckled again. "NO! No way! You ALWAYS get to plan everything and cater to me. Today I want to cater to YOU. I'm planning Valentine's Day." He always got to do things for me. And up until the day I became immortal, there was nothing I could do for him. "Are you sure? You didn't even know it was Valentine's Day." he asked. A little smug. "I am completely positive. Give me till...." I looked at the clock thinking of a good time to start my plans. "Until twelve o'clock to plan the day." Noon. A perfect time. "Okay. Whatever makes you happy." "Good. Stay here and wait until Renesmee wakes up. I'm going to talk to Alice." I shot out of the house like bullet. Of course Alice would have the perfect idea of how I can make this day special for Edward. He deserves it, after years of saving the human me and making me happy. Now I can finally do that for him. "Alice!" I shouted when I flew into the house. "I know, Bella! I know! Come with me! Rose! We've got a misson!" Rose? Rosalie was going to help me too? I followed Alice into her room and Rosalie trailed after me. "Okay. This is MAJOR, Bella. I've been waiting for you to let me do something like this!" "Yeah. I want this day to be really special for him. But don't go overboard." I reminded her. "I know, I know. First, we're going to go to the store and find you some lace, baby blue lingerie. Then we'll get him out of the cottage and give Renesmee to Jake while we set up. Rose, go to Esme's garden and pick up a few roses and pluck off the petals..." She kept going on and on, but I stopped listening at laced baby blue lingerie. Why did I have to wear lingerie? We did just fine without fancy garments... And why blue? Baby blue? His favorite color on me? I could tell right from the start that this was going to be embarrassing. "Bella? Hello? Bella?" Alice said waving her hand in front of my face. "Bella come on! We only have until noon, remember? Let's go!" "Oh. Right. Sorry." ***** The shopping was horrible. Of course Alice had to pick out the most ridiculous set out of all the choices. It was silk, lace, and baby blue with rhinestones and see through in places you would never imaagine. Alice said I would look great but every time I saw it, I shuddered. She was trying to kill me. But other than that, the beginning of our day was planned. First, Edward and I would go hunting with Alice and Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett. Then we would all go to see a movie in Port Angeles. We decided Port Angeles after I reasurred Alice that I was well in control, and being in a dark, enclosed space filled with humans wouldn't bother me. Then Edward and I would come back to the cottage. That was the part I was most interested in. Alice and Rose began setting up in the cottage while I played with Renesmee and talked to Jake. He and Renesmee would be spending the day together. She looked to be about ten years old now. Edward was outside with Emmett and Jasper trying to figure out what us ladies could possibly be planning. I worked hard to keep my shield nice and tight around me so he wouldnt get the slightest peek. Alice also worked hard to keep her mind busy to not expose anything. It was almost tweleve o'clock so I went in the cottage to see what Alice had left to do. Jake and Nessie were long gone. "Hold on, Bella. Just one last thing." Alice called. Then she opened the cottage door, and what was inside froze me in the entry way. She had completely changed the cottage in a matter of hours. And not many of them. I stood in the doorway with my mouth hanging open, looking at the thousands of rose petals leading the way into the bedroom. There it was worse. There were red candles everywhere. Rose petals lightly sprinkled over the huge white bed. Petals on the floor.... It made me feel like this room was from a movie. "You like it?" Alice asked. I was still speechless, but I spread a small smile around my lips so that she knew I like it. "Good. Now get ready to go hunting." ****** After the hunt was over and we all felt sloshy, I told Edward what we were doing next. "We're going to see a movie in Port Angeles. A nice romantic one. Set in the early nineteen-hundreds." I explained. "That sounds great. Where's Renesmee?" "Oh, she went with Jake, over to Charlie and Sue's place. Their having a big dinner. Did you know Leah imprinted?" His eyes widened at the news. "She did?" "Yep. Jake says he's a nice boy. Made her forget all about the whole thing with Sam. Sam couldn't be happier to see her finally get over it." "Hmm. Good for her." "Did I also tell you that they found out who Embry's dad is?" "No you didn't. When did you find all this out?" "Jake was telling me today when you were outside. It's Old Quil." He was silent for a few seconds. Just like I was. "I had a hunch." he finally. "Sure you did." ***** The movie passed in a blur. I wasn't really paying attention. Edward and I held hands through the whole thing. We saw Angela and Ben sitting closer to the screen, so we decided to stay at the top in the corner, away from everyone else. I had butterflies in my stomach because of what was next on our agenda. "Okay guys, we'll see you later." Alice said then turned and winked at me. The butterflies fluttered harder. "You're leaving, Alice?" Edward asked. "Yeah. So are Rosalie and Emmett. We'll see you guys later." "See you later Bella." Rosalie said and Emmett chuckled. She must have told him about my plans. Edward looked confused. "I'll race you back to the cottage," I said once we were outside. "On your mark-" "Wait!" I interrupted. "If you get there before me, you CANNOT go in." "Why not?" "You'll see. On your mark..." "Get set..." "GO!" I started flying through the forest. I could hear him near me but couldn't tell if he was ahead or behind. I pushed faster and faster until I reached the cottage, skidding to stop. Then I saw him walk slowly toward me a smile on his face. Did he see something in Alice's mind at the theater? "You've gotten faster. You almost made me tired trying to keep up with you." I sighed with relief. "Stay RIGHT HERE until I call you in. Understand?" He nodded. I opened the door just enough so that I could get through, shut the door, then went to the bedroom. I quickly put on the scanty lingerie and sat in the middle of the bed. "You can come in now," I said just enough so he could hear me. I heard him open the door and walk slowly. Following the rose petals. I wish I could see the expression his face. He slowly opened the door and met my eyes. A huge smile spread across his face, causing me to smile as well. He walked over the bed and sat next to me, then whispered in my ear. "You are utterly unbelievable." He spoke slowly, softly. Like velvet. "Happy Valentine's Day." I said. Then he kissed me softly. His lips meeting mine, then they moved to my throat. Beginning the last event of our evening. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) |
