What were Edward's Reasons for Leaving Bella in New Moon?

I totally agree with you and you are like one of the first sensible and reasonable Twilight fan that I have met who just not try to proclaim that their are team someone without even giving like the real reason of why they choose to be part of team. Edward is definitely by far more mature than Jacob and he do not act on instinct like a trap animal he pause and see each of his decision throughly something that throughout the four books we rarely see Bella doing and definitely not Jacob who just act like a Spoiled little kid. Do not Get me wrong I appreciate Jacob character I just did not appreciate the overconfidence and lack of respect that he gain when he learn that he's a werewolf. He become totally out of control acting spoil and impolite to everybody and thinking that he could said what he wanted to who and when he wanted it. He's quick to Judge Edward, but he quickly forget is own flows so he can only point Edward.

omg!!! this is like so meaningful and with such deep feeling its almost scary!! lol:D i really like what you wrote though becuase it is sooo true. and most of the reason that people are Team Jacob is just becuase Edward left!!can you belive that!

thank you for commenting! And thank you for the compliments :) There are alot of Jacob fans who do like him for the character, but they are overshadowed by the fans who think he's hot. Same thing with Edward. Alot of the fans like him because of his appearance. It all depends on your perspective and what you hear. I just wanted to put my opinion out there on what I've been hearing the past couple weeks :)

Most people are just like stuck to the Physical aspect of the description of Edward and Jacob and can definitely said most people are influenced by the actors who played them. That for my part really think that Robert Patison is like the worst actor to played Edward and same thing for Kristen ( speaking totally from a twilight point the view, because that movie had some poor acting skill that it was almost painful to watch.)

^^I would have to disagree. As much as I respect your opinion, I don't think anyone could have played Edward other than Rob. Kristen as Bella is how I pictured her to be. The Twilight movie wasn't what I wanted, but you can't blame the actors. The director tells them how to act the parts, and I think Catherine's preference influenced the Twilight movie and how it turned out. I love both Kristen and Rob and they are phenomenal actors! Their other projects, they have amazing performances! Twilight, I don't know what went wrong, but the second time round, I'm thinking they hit New Moon spot on :)

I said that the Twilight movie was poorly acted and produced. I ove Rob especially as Cedric Digory in HP :D but still he was not what I had i mind for Edward but like i said it's my opinion.

^^alot of people thought that Rob wasn't the Edward they had in mind. We all had different visions of Edward. It's hard to live up to his expectations.

lol i do agree with you on that one lol... anyway I haven't find an actor that ever lived to the expectations of how I had picture a character, they usually just spoiled it for me especially Harry Potter !!

i totally, absolutly aggree 100% with everything you said, but i just want to point out something. you said that Jake "emotionally blackmailed and mouthraped her in Eclipse". well even though i totally agree with that i just want to say that although Edward was much more mature about it, he was fighting to keep Bella as well. even though he wasn't as open about it he was still fighting, he was just expotentionally more subtle. there are many clues thoughout the book especially the part in Eclipse when Edward talks sbout Bella agreeing to marry him even though he knows jake is right next to them.
even though i agree entierly with everything you said, i just want to show both sides of the argument and say even though Edward and Bella were meant to be, Edward wasn't exactly a saint when he was trying to keep Bella with him. just thought i would point that out :P

^^Thank you for the comment. Although, I did fail to mention Edward's fighting for Bella, but I will state that I don't think Edward fought less than fair. He has flaws, like everyone else. Despite everyone's assumptions that he is perfect, he has flaws. But he apologizes when he believes what he has done was wrong. That's one of the many differences between them. Jacob thought of how Bella was without Edward and how she was broken numerous times throughout Eclipse. I'd say Edward's mentioning of their engagement hardly evens the playing field :)

I agree with you too, on both your article and the opinions that you stated in your comments as well. =) I love your opinions on the Twilight Series. They're always so interesting to read and you make us see the other side of fans - which I really like. =) It's kind of rare these days.

I think the best way to put it is that even if Edward was fighting for her too, he still left the choice to Bella and that is from the Start. But Jacob never really gave Bella a choice he was more like saying "hey lady you need to choose me because I save you from your depression and I'm much better because "well I'm human" and that thing that you like there is not and He hurt you". I really say that Edward never lied to Bella about what she was getting into he even told her he was the bad guy not the hero.

The lady knew what she was getting into.

I think maybe some people would argue that if Edward really knows Bella then he should have forseen that leaving would cause her so much pain. I suppose he was thinking that him leaving would be better for her in the long run. I dont think he was selfish but I do think he perhaps didnt consider the possible consequences of his actions as much as he should have. I agree with you on how Jacob isnt perfect either (as much as I love him ;)) and that you cant say he never left Bella, he clearly did. I mean when Edward left she had Jacob...But when Jacob left she basically had no one.

So yeah I pretty much agree with you, I dont like Edward was selfish, we've seen how selfless he is when it comes to Bella throughout the books, but maybe he should have thought about what he was going to do before he did it, but he was probably very disturbed by what happened with Jasper.

lol Jose how much do you think there's to think of when you think that at any giving moment your brother can snap and drink your girlfriend to death. Lol If I was Edward I would have left too, for like he said Bella was human, she would have suffer a lot but somewhat with time she would have moved on. But If he had stay and one of his kind had definitely snap, she would have just be dead and the Cullens in real real Trouble for I do not think Billy would I left that one pass.

And, New Moon, in my opinion, is the book where they learned how much they loved each other. Edward had no idea that Bella would turn to depression. He didn't know she would cling to the thought of him, and that was his mistake.

In Eclipse, Chapter 22, when Edward was talking to Jacob, he listed the 4 options. He also mentioned how he chose the 3rd option, which was "the worst mistake of his very long life". He chose to take himself out of her world, hoping to force her into the first alternative for her safety. And of course, it nearly killed them both.

And, even though I dread it, her 2nd kiss with Jacob, or the "mouthrape", sort of closed the deal for Bella. That was when she chose Edward. She didn't want anyone else. The kiss is significant, but on the other hand, it angers me. lol

Yeah exactly, I see what youre saying, the problem is, because theyre both like "No, I love YOU more", "No YOU'RE amazing" (which to be honest annoys me in the books sometimes because its so over the top at times), and also because he cant read her mind, he probably thought she needed him less than he needed her. Like I said although I dont necessarily think he should have left, I dont think he was being selfish at all, I just think it was a very panicked situation where he really thought he was making the right decision.

I know it made me annoyed at Jacob for tricking her, because the rest of the time he seemed to be so honest. There are so many mind games going on lol its hard to keep up with what they might be thinking. Thank god real life isnt that complicated (usually) :P

^^haha yeah usually. lol and yes, Edward and Bella always exalt each other. Neither of them think they're worthy for each other. lol it can get annoying. Bella annoyed me more than Edward though. He's just being over precautious. Bella was just a drama queen sometimes. haha

You are absolutly right! People are always saying that Jacob didn't leave, Jake was always there for Bella! But COME ON!!!! He left just like Edward, they both left to help her, because they thought it was the best thing to do!
I'm Team Jasper, but when it comes to deciding which one (that's why teams were created, because she was in the meadle!!!) I'm Team Edward! And personally, I think it's just infantile to say that Jake didn't leave or that Edward sucks because he did! People should accept both perspectives! They both left, and they both did what they thought was best for Bella!

Ahh manpanda power to you ^^ you nailed it she was like the queen of the Drama Queen. Twilight it a great book but seriously Bella is a shame to woman her total dependency on Edward is like totally unnatural, there's no way in today's world a woman would need a man so irrationally lol


And seriously Jacob did not rally thought of Bella's safety when he left it was more because SAM had order him in the Alpha voice to stay away.. safety came later .
