Between Bella and Edward, their flaws made the plot for Eclipse. Edward with his overreactions and Bella with her lack of self knowledge.
If Bella had known she loved Jacob and if Edward had not overreacted and been more honest with Bella by telling her how he felt about Jacob (he was jealous and thus insecure), Eclipse would probably be my favourite. Yet, alas, the characters kept their secrets from each other and in certain cases from themselves.
If Edward had been honest with Bella, maybe she would've understood she loved Jacob, and it would have solved a lot of problems quicker.
They both had issues. I think the only person who didn't in that triangle was Jacob. (oh wow. I never thought I'd say that.)
The only thing Jacob did wrong was that he went about trying to prove that Bella loved him in the wrong way, and you can't be angry with him for trying since he did truly love her and cares about her and thus is afraid Edward will kill her (sad that Edward can over come his fear of Bella and werewolves, yet Jacob can't over come his fear of Bella and vampires).
Although he probably should have understood better that one day he may imprint and hurt Bella, he was blinded by that adoration for Bella. Had Jacob used better techniques, she may have gone with him, which for us Edwardians would've been bad, and so I'm not as angry for he attempt date rape (again! wow!) since it meant Bella was ticked at him along with team Edward.
Therefore, Jacob kissing Bella was a good thing.

This is actually my side of a convo I had with another Twilight fan, but all the interesting parts were by yours truly so there isn't anything missing I could add.
This is exactly how I feel about the triangle!
When I say he raped her, it really means he kissed her. I know it confuses some people, but it's how I remember it and it's the term I use to describe it.

I am voteing for edward all the wayy, no offense i really hate jacob and hopefully he will find his own girl but does bella truly love Edward more? a little or lot.
I agree that Jacob needs to imprint and find his own girl (or if he chooses, his own guy), but I still like Jacob. He just has big problems.
I think Bella does love Edward more. (A lot more.) Although since her love of Edward is possibly the truest of true loves, that doesn't mean she doesn't love Jacob with enough power to light up all of Washington. It just means it isn't enough to overpower her love of Edward, which (since I already used the electricity metophor) could light up all of Earth and then some.
We know Bella truly loves Edward by in New Moon when he leaves. Bella doesn't act like a teenager who just broke up with her boyfriend, she acts like a grieving widow who just lost her husband and soul mate. Everything changes and Bella stops doing so much that she used to enjoy just because the pain of remembering him is too strong that it kills her everytime.
Bella truly, deeply loves Edward.
Bella truly loves Jacob. He fixed (well... attempted) her when she was completely broken inside and outside. Nothing was right and everything was wrong, yet he was there. While everyone stared at her like she was insane or waiting for her to prove that she was insane, he didn't. For that, who wouldn't love Jacob?
Yet, Edward comes back as we (almost) all had hoped. Even with Jacob there helping us all feel better, nothing beats having an Edward. Bella knows this, so when it comes down to choosing she never really had to think about it. Jacob was (almost) always there for her and she loves him for it, yet Edward is Edward (sorry, but I don't think there is an adjective that fits Edward quite right).
Bella can't not pick Edward. He was her first and strongest love. Ever heard that you'll always love your first love? Well, thats how it is for Bella. She can't not love him and she can not live without him. As great as Jacob is, he could never fix the hole left by Edward (although try he did). It was too big and refused to give in. That hole was much bigger than the hole that was made by Jacob.
In both New Moon and Eclipse Bella says goodbye to Jacob (first when he joined the pack, and then when she picks Edward), but Edward leaving her was always more painful.
In Eclipse she cries and in New Moon she is stunned. In New Moon when Edward leaves she breaks down so much that she can't even cry or think about it without breaking down again. The only time she can't hide from her (what to call it? It's more than depression or sadness) death (I can't find a word that fits better) is when she sleep, in which she screams and cries.
In conclusion (I think I went on a little too long), Bella loves Edward more.

Rape is about control. The person gets off on controlling the victim. It's not about the sex, they don't get the same "pleasure" from sex than they do from actually forcing it upon the victim.
Jacob liked/loved her. (whichever jacob fans would like to argue). He was just naive. He doesn't have some psychological disorder where he gets off from controlling Bella.
How Jacob can be called a rapist, boggles my mind. I'm pretty sure most just over reacted and now see it differently. But there are still those odd few. Snap out of it and grow up. :)
Jacob isn't a bad person, nor is he a rapist, he was just enthusiastic and really bad at body language. (Just so you know, I don't dislike Jacob. I like Jacob, but he just bothers me at times.)
I'll be looking forward to Jacob imprinting... Unless he imprinted on Bella mysteriously... I doubt it though.
And also, mrsblack_1089, if you actually read my comments before commenting you'd probably feel better.

To put it simply: After all they had been through together, I think that both Jacob and Bella deserved to know exactly how the other and they themselves felt.
