I've had this idea in the back of my head for a long while now, and after yet another pick asking whether or not Betty should get a make over and be pretty, I decided to finally address my frustrations with this idea in soapbox form.
Regardless of what's been done in shows like Betty, La Fea, upon which our Ugly Betty is based, I think the show will jump the shark if/when Betty gets a makeover and is suddenly beautiful and fashionable. Why? Well, I'll tell you.

(S02E05) Love was in the air, courtesy of Ugly Betty's newest phony website, bachelosity.com. Betty found a date, Amanda found a new way to tease Betty, and someone from Christina's past found her. Even Marc found romance! While some characters made significant progress, others (thankfully) went back to basics. Alexis remembered what being a Meade is all about, and Justin's dreaded rebellious phase is officially over! I just hope he didn't throw out his old clothes.
The first episode of season two was extremely touchy-feely, in my opinion. To begin with, Betty is running around like a chicken with her head cut off, trying to take care of Daniel and her job and denying that she is hurt over recent family events. Henry’s running off to Arizona with Charlie has also clearly affected her greatly.
Daniel and Alexis are in the hospital after their car crash. Daniel is in a wheelchair and feels guilty, thinking he caused the crash. Alexis is in a coma until Daniel goes in to talk to her.
ABC's ``Ugly Betty'' television series plans to move filming to New York City to take advantage of tax credits in a switch that will create more than 200 full- and part-time jobs.
Production of ABC's "Ugly Betty" is moving to New York. The announcement was made Monday by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Governor David Paterson and ABC Studios President Mark Pedowitz.
