Amanda: I think I'm gonna pass.
Marc: You're not passing. I'm not going to stag, hag.
Amanda: You'll have to buy your own beer, queer.
Marc: You can't just ditch, bi-
Amanda: Oh shut up!

Amanda: Who cares about carbs when you're from Queens, right?

Marc: When did catwalk become fatwalk?

Amanda: Keep working- a little more overtime and you can switch to invisalines.

Amanda: I can bearly leave the house with an out-of-season handbag and you show up on a daily basis looking like a yard sale and you don't care. Its like you were genetically engineered without the fear gene.

Amanda: Have you been smoking one of your ponchos?

Amanda: Hi. Are you the before?
Betty: Huh?
Amanda: Before and after. The photoshoot?

Marc: You must prove your loyalty to the queen.

For those of you wondering which Jack and Karen I am talking about, I am referring to none other than the catty and humourous offerings of Will and Grace's very own bitchy and campy duo in gay man, Jack- and the sarchastic overtones of Karen- both played by Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally.

Ugly Betty's answer to Jack and Karen come in the form of the flamboyant Marc St James- Wilhelmina's sidekick and Mode receptionist, Amanda Tanen. Their antics have entertained audiences in their seats and garnered a massive fanbase throughout the world.

The main difference separating the pair is the age differences between the two ships'- in real life, Megan is 50 years old and Sean is round about 38,- whereas our very own Becki Newton turned 30 just this year, and Michael Urie turned 28. Interestingly enough also, both Michael and Sean not only play camp characters in Marc St James and Jack Macfarlane, but rather they were born 10 years apart from each other (Michael was born in 1980 and Sean was born in 1970). AND Megan is 20 years OLDER than Becki. What coincidences eh?! Want further proof? Check out and compare their bios on IMDB and see the...

NB: *I did NOT write this review. I just saw it on a website and thought it was not only a good account of season 2, but a lot of the comments echoed by this writer made a lot of sense. Particuarly in relation to season 3 of Ugly Betty.*

Here's the process of making a television show: First (after the idea has been approved), one episode, called a "Pilot" is made. If the powers-that-be and a test audience like the Pilot, then a season is ordered, often 13 or 22 episodes. I've read interviews with series creators where they talk about having a multi-season plan for their show. And while that may be true, given the fickle nature of TV audiences and the fact that a show can be cancelled at any time, I believe that those who make shows take things one episode at a time. Thus, we get the "sophomore slump" with many shows. The first season is impressive, and then it's like they don't know what to do with that second one. That seems to be the case with Ugly Betty.
