There is a striking contrast between America and her character
|
I've had this idea in the back of my head for a long while now, and after yet another pick asking whether or not Betty should get a make over and be pretty, I decided to finally address my frustrations with this idea in soapbox form.
Regardless of what's been done in shows like Betty, La Fea, upon which our Ugly Betty is based, I think the show will jump the shark if/when Betty gets a makeover and is suddenly beautiful and fashionable. Why? Well, I'll tell you.
First of all, this idea initially popped into my head when I was watching Beauty and the Beast with my roommate and she commented, "You know, it's such a cop out when the beast turns back into a prince. If I was Belle, I'd be pissed. 'No, dammit! I like hairy men!'" She was kidding, but she still didn't like that part of the plot. And to be honest, neither did I. It's the same story with Penelope. And though I love both movies, it's hard to deny that by the end they completely contradict the moral they're trying to illustrate. The classic maxim, "beauty is only skin deep." Ugly is in is the last Ugly Betty fansite to dissapear online for good, which dissapointed many fans of the show, as they enquire about other places to find stuff on the show. Therefore, I thought I would put together a list of 10 alternative websites and fansites, in no ascending order that are worth checking out.

The Ugly Betty club on Fanpop- My favourite overall. The amount of fans it has is just staggering and it keeps on growing each month. You can post photos, links, articles, fan art, picks etc. The ease of doing all of this is what makes it so interesting and garners so many other fans. Design is simple though the background could do with some added colour. Other than that, I love it!
Ugly Betty News- website where writer Tom keeps us informed and up-to-date with the latest goings on, during and behind the scenes at Mode. Full of fan opinions and like-minded and intelligent fans, who wish to discuss the show, UB news is well worth visiting.

Marc: You must prove your loyalty to the queen.
