I think they tried that with Hilda in season one. America Ferrera is actually really pretty, but I don't think they'll capitalize on that. She has to keep her look. As ciaran above me said, she's not "Ugly Betty" without it.

but you guys are missing the point of this show. yes, she will get a makeover. this show is based on a spanish novela named "Betty La Fea" which translates into "Ugly Betty" she will get a makeover because this show is a complete remake of that novela. and right now, there's even another remake airing right now called "La Fea Mas Bella" they all have the same plot, they turn this "ugly" person and make them beautiful.

I think it should be gradual, like one week she has her braces off, then another her sense of style changes. Then in the final ever episode she can sort out her hair and her glasses. But over all I hope her sense for food and bubbly personality doesn't change because that is who she really is, and we love her!

Of course not, that'd be ridiculous. She wouldn't be Ugly Betty. I thought in the spanish one she ended up falling in love with her boss? Not get a make-over? Meh.

That's how the novella goes, eh? I feel all gooey inside, but not the good kind. How cliche. To be honest, I'll be disappointed if she does, I think it would defeat the message of the show, which is just to be who you are without apologies, whether you're ugly, or a playboy, or just plain mean. If Betty gets a makeover, than Marc and Amanda have to somehow become kind and generous people, Wilhemina's heart will have to melt completely, and Daniel will have to stop... being... DANIEL. My point is, a little display of the other side of characters (Marc coming out to his Mom, Amanda confessing her love for Daniel to Betty, Wilhemina changing her wedding plans to get Marc back) shows character depth, but a complete reshaping of what makes them who they are is just too... commercial.

OK, that was my rant.

Part of me wants it because she could be so beautiful. I agree it would defeat the purpose of the show, but hasn't the purpose already been defeated??

I mean (1) no one makes fun of her or even seems to realise that she's ugly anymore, (2)everyone else on the show is thin and beautiful (3) they are all really nice whereas Betty is getting quite irritating,(4)we were clearly meant to laugh at that other ugly girl in the dentist's last episode and be on the side of beautiful bimbo Diane.(5) Being ugly doesn't even affect her, she has had about three dates in the past ten episodes (Walter, Dr. Farkas, Henry) and that guy in the club.

She isn't even portrayed as ugly anymore, just as dorky and naive and frankly a bit childish.

i think she is beautiful jus the way she is. we all know she is UGLY betty, bt the whole underlining theme of inner beauty and outer beauty wud be great if there was just even one scene of betty lookin gorjus

no no no! To me Betty is already a hot chick, because she is who she is. So what if her clothing isn't what society wants? she is a nice girl with a great personality, who doesn't need the fancy cloths to make her hot, that's what the serie's about!

it would be really bad if they did that. I would like her to evolve but not to transform herself into a MODE GIRL. It would miss the point of the whole show. We are beautiful. We don't need to "pretend" to be plastic-beautiful in the outside to succeed in life.
