The term "movie trailer" refers to all the material that film distributors attach to the front of the movie reel: commercials, film previews, sometimes even PSAs. But over time, the term has become synonymous with previews of coming attractions.
Since these are essentially commercials for movies, for the studios the criterion for a great trailer is easy: it's whatever makes people want to see the movie enough to do so...particularly if they do so opening weekend. The "opening weekend gross" and the "opening weekend per-screen average gross" are used to determine both how successful a film is and also how many theaters will continue showing the film after the first week (yes, this is sort of a bad feedback loop). So, for the studios, great trailers are the trailers for the movies that do big business on opening weekend.
Logically, we can see that this is utter nonsense - a movie can perform well or completely flop regardless of the trailer. I think that, as viewers, we can also tell whether a movie is going to be good or bad regardless of the trailer. Therefore, if a trailer can be good or bad completely...

Could This Be It? A Sequel (of sorts) at Last?
Over the years there have been countless rumors about a third Bill & Ted movie being in the works. It's gotten to the point that with each new rumor we roll our eyes and say "Not this again!" We've usually been most hopefully when the talk has supposedly come from either Alex and Keanu or Bill & Ted creators Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson. Everything else seemed suspect at best. But now we are faced with a story published by the L.A. Times, no less, stating that a third Bill & Ted film is indeed on the drawing board. The fact that the article names a production company, producer and even the writers makes this certainly one rumor that already warrants more attention than most. So a third movie may indeed be in the works!
Now for the bad news . . . this third movie is slated to be a direct-to-DVD release and will NOT star Alex Winter or Keanu Reeves. And, as we've noted, it will not be penned by Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson.

Come on I have no idea why people arnt making much of a deal about ST Trinians It looks sooo good.
Its about Kids sent to a english boarding school who rebell it looks amazin i think that what everyone likes to see in things is a rebel
