Abingdon, Illinois - a Haunted Town? 

What bothers me about this story is that students claim to have seen ghostly images and heard screams in the 1970's.If the woman killed herself in the junior high school in 1956,it would have been a different building.The junior high used in the 70's was built in the early 60's at a different location,years after the woman supposedly killed herself.

Although all the references to this story refer to it as the junior high, the building/classroom sight in question was actually the old Abingdon High School in 56, the new addition was added in 1961 and then the whole property was referred to as the Abingdon Junior High, as there was a brand new high school built on another property. The third floor of the old high school was where the haunting activity is said to have been witnessed, it was in use until the late seventies, the second floor of the old high school building was in use till 2006. So at least from a time/date stand point that info is correct.
